WE Sniper and Rattlesnake, 168 extenders (photos) updated

My favourite incan light; the WE Sniper with 168 extender and LF EO-9 run by 2x AW 18650 cells. The 168 extender fits the Rattlesnake without any problems, however when used on the Sniper there is a gap between the two components and hence no contact. I managed to locate a keyring which is a perfect fit for the task, as if it was made for the job, 100% reliable.

No beam shots, sorry, only flashlight pictures.........

THE light.....enough said.

For size reference with Sniper EO-4, Raider HO-9 and 3x 18650 Rattlesnake EO-13.

Keyring in place used to make contact.

THE keyring; 23.1 mm outside diameter, 19.3 mm inside diameter, 2.7 mm high.

Machined off all "high" bits from the extender so it feels better in the hand.

UPDATE ON ALTERNATIVE TO THE KEYRING IN #29 below.

Very nice, thanks for the pics. What sort of runtime do you get from this little weapon? Great looking piece of equipment

No idea.....even though I have carried this light at home in my jeans pocket for about a week, I did not do a run time test.......however, according to "mdocod",

2x 18650, LF EO-9, 15.5W, 280 - 188 lumens, 60 minutes.

Best I can do.....

Fair enough, i actually just thought about my post and thought there would be no way to test run time anyway with the LA time warning, same as i have no idea how long the Raider runs

I am also considering this combination instead of Raider + EO-9.
What is diameter of the 168 extender, i mean both extender body and those two "rings" in the middle of flashlight?

Am I the only one that doesn't see any pictures?
Norm

The photos are back. Thanks for the PM cernobila.

The body is 28.2 mm, the rings are 32.0 mm and tailcap is 29.5 mm.

You built a nice Frankstein...

Yes I did,.....the Sniper/extender EO-9 version loves the night life as well as living in my front jeans pocket with its tail cap or bezel sticking out, great for quick draws. Being smooth in all the critical places it does less damage to my jeans than other smaller lights.

Is that a light in your pocket? :nana:

Too big for me to carry in a pocket, but man it would be impressive for everyday carry

......on our camping trips in the past, I would carry a Tigerlight Gold 8" in my front pocket.....next trip I am only taking all my WE lights, a few spare 18650's and spare lamp or two, just in case.

Ah...cool! I'm glad that you included pic #3 because I was lost about the keyring. That makes sense though. Nice collection by the way... :)

Is it still waterproof with the keyring?

Dont know, havn't taken it out in heavy rain or played with it in my bathtub, but it tightens up quite nicely.

One point I should make. I first tried only one layer of the keyring (I had two keyrings to start off with) by cutting out the cross over part and ending with two halves each about 1.4 mm thick/high. When I installed it and tried it out it rattled inside and did not work. So, the ring has to be at least 2 to 2.5 mm thick/high to fill the gap between the two sections. The water proofing should be no different between this and having the tailcap on the Sniper body without the extender.

cernobila, can you tell us where you found a keyring of that size? I've lost the copper wire that I had fashioned to do the job and I'd rather buy a half-dozen keyrings than create a new copper ring each time I lose one. All my keyrings are slightly too wide.

We need to get PTS and Glen to stock these!

Pics?

are you using the extender on the M90 rattlesnake body?

......Been a while......

I found the keyring in a big jar of keyrings in my garage, best would be to email some of your local locksmith stores with the dimensions and see what happens.....yes I have a feeling that these could be a common size.

Don't know what happened to the photos, they kinda disappeared, I will re-insert them.
