I normally EDC about 1 hour of light on my body. Out in the car I have a Lightwave 4000 (RT = 48hr) and a Peli 2020 Sabrelite (RT = 3.5hr). When playing Sky Warn I usually take along my Peli. M6 modded with a DownBoy 400ma and 2xA19 extenders for a total of 4x123 batteries (12v) with a runtime of 11 hours..

If push came to shove...all my lights and batteries go in a bag and are kept in the car. That includes several Ham radio HT's and their battery packs.

I generally carry about 10 hours of light, consisting of my EDC light and one spare battery. My baseline requirement is to have enough light to walk home from my usual commute location (~5 hours walk) in a complete blackout.

At home, I keep 4xAA, 4xD and 4xCR123A as part of my three day disaster emergency kit. The primary risk in this part of the world is earthquakes rather than weather.
