CAMILLUS OMBU X-33 LED BLK 3 watt and thought Hmmmmm .. kinda cool

In the world of Tactical LED lighting, OMBU means top of the line performance in this new-to-the USA line of tactical style lighting. The new X-33, 3 watt Luxeon LED torch is a continuation of the legacy begun with the 5 watt X-55 but in a 3 watt Luxeon LED design and with TWO light levels. This puts you in control of the type of light you need for the situation. In many night-acclimated uses, the low level, 7 lumen light level will be quite sufficient and even desirable. (No need to wreck your retina!) But if and when you really need some photons, click the switch once more for a brilliant 45 lumens of LED output. A design you will really appreciate. The lower light level will give up to 30 hours or more burn time. Expect about 2- 8 hours on high or many more hours if used intermittently. BTW, the assertive styling of the X-33 isn't just for good looks. The body provides for sure-grip handling with its crocodile grip and the scalloped lens hood allows you to see that the light has been left on even when face down on a surface. And in an emergency, that lens edge could be used tactically in self defense. The circuits and the bodies are designed and assembled in Spain with expertise and old world craftsmanship.

Please note that intermittent usage where burn times are under 5 minutes can increase battery life significantly. And you get all this from a light weighing 3.7oz and measuring 5 inches by 1 inch at the head and with a light source that will never need replacement. Two CR123's are included. The light cone cast by the torch is a rather tight 15 inch spot at 10 feet. This pocket-size wonder really goes for the distance. The OMBU X-33 is water-tight, o-ring sealed throughout, though not yet rated to a depth beyond several feet.

I was just about to post this. Did someone say O-3?

yeah but it appears they got a better run time out of it even on high and a 2 stage switch .. wonder if it is a momentary on or still the reverse clicky ...

this light compare to innova T4?

Does anyone have this light? IS this new light? How is it comapared to innova T4? This light has 3watt compared to T4 which as 5watt. shouldn't the T4 be brighter?

Re: this light compare to innova T4?

picard, the Inova T4 uses a Luxeon III (= 3 watt LED, as it is often called) driven at the upper end of its specs, with nearly 4 watts overall power consumption.

Re: this light compare to innova T4?

This looks exactly like the QIII mother (TM-301X-3). It can be had for ~$40 on ebay or at QIII Mother . I have one and think it is a great light for $40.

Re: this light compare to innova T4?

I love the marketing hype on the web site; "The circuits and the bodies are designed and assembled in Spain with expertise and old world craftsmanship."

When I first saw the Ombu light on the web site the first words that popped in my head was, "Nuwai...China...it is a lot cheaper than $90."

I'll bet that old world paint job has chips in it in less than a year. I think a Surefire L series light would be better for a little more dough.

Back on the thread track; if the light is the Q3 mother then it would have a reflector and have a medium range spot and a great spill light.

China is the New World?

Re: this light compare to innova T4?

You may think of Switzerland for watches, but when I think of high quality lighting instruments made in the finest old world traditions, I always think of Spain!!!!!!!

Re: this light compare to innova T4?

China, in comparison to Spain, would be the ancient world. I know that no one would be surprised at what China can make...and we, the Old World, can't anymore. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I think China is in a rebirth and we are not old enough to be the same place. Maybe someday we will.

Arggh...brain hurt. I've done too much philosophizing!

Re: this light compare to innova T4?

Ombu is being marketed by Camillus ( the knife folks ) One of my distributors sent an e mail announcing the line. It is way overpriced given that Nuwaii lights appear at almost half the wholesale on these.
