I just got a WF138 charger (or at least that's what the sticker on the bottom of the unit said). I googled and it seems that WF138 is the usual designation for the RCR123 charger. But this unit does have two separate locations for 10440 and 14500 so it seems like the correct charger.

In any event, it doesn't come with any instructions. When I plug it in, both LEDs light up green and when I insert a single AW protected 14500, it begins to blink red & green slowly (about 1 phase change per second). Is this normal?

I usually associate "blinking red" with bad so I took the battery out and wasn't going to put it back until I checked with you guys.

Thanks.

So no one uses this charger? How 'bout other Ultrafire chargers? Do they behave the same (blinking green and red slowly when it's charging)?

In most other chargers (including Li-Ion cell phone chargers) that I have, no LEDs are lit until I put in a battery. The LED is red as it's charging until it's done and then the LED turns green to indicate that it's ready for use. Blinking LEDs usually indicate some type of error condition.

hi musicalfruit.i use a WF-139 Ultrafire charger mine can charge the batt you mention and 18650 which are used alot in flashlights.and mine flashes when charging solid green when charged.but you need to watch the charger and turn it off when batt are charged.does this help.oh the flashing is normal on this charger.

My WF138 charger light is Red with brief flashes of Green when charging. When the battery gets closer to full charge, the light alternates between Red and Green, finally turning Green when finished.

Ok, thanks for the info.

Was a little leery since I've been hearing about so many problems with lithium batteries and the charger didn't come with any documentation. Not even a sheet of badly translated instructions.

Thanks again.
