What’s Your Go-To Flashlight and Why?

Zebralight SC whichever one is handy at the time!
Also always have a Streamlight Micro USB always in pocket what a great little light.

I've been rocking a Fivemega 2XIMR18350 FM/CL1794 host lately. It's perfectly pocketable and I haven't been doing anything that requires long run times lately. When I'm out and about for a few hours and I need to check my footing in the dark it's a Petzl Actik Core that just lives on my forehead 🤓.

Edit: Adding pics for fun. First is the light, second is an uncomfortably tight shot of the T1.5 business end

Whats the lumens/runtime on a setup like that?

Most days mine is a Reylight Rook. I love the high CRI, usb-c rechargeable battery, multiple levels, and simple UI. Other days it is a Zebralight AA, Reylight Lan, Lumintop AAA Penlight, or Maratac AAA. I tend to be a tint snob now, so all are high CRI.

Whats the lumens/runtime on a setup like that?
At spec (7V, 3A) the 1794 produces 800 bulb lumens, but it spends a non-trivial chunk of it's runtime being driven a bit above that (around 21+ watts) before the batteries settle down. On 700 mAh cells I get 7-9 minutes of *WOW* light before it tapers off to just a few hundred lumens in the last 3-4 minutes. Of course, less than that makes it out the front, but where CRI is concerned it's definitionally perfect. It's also one of the hottest filaments I've ever seen. Compared to other rather harshly driven halogen bulbs (in my example 10X dominator MN32, rated 35hr life) the 1794 is *white*

More and more, it's becoming this old S2+ again.

Reason being, it's just as bright as I need for my EDC, very compact and easy to pocket, nice in the hand despite being a tad small, and with that 20º pebbled TIR, the beam is perfect for my needs.

Here are some (laughable attempts at) beamshots from about 3m away:

Underexposed to display beam shape...

Normal exposure, calibrated to match both tint and brightness as I could see with my eyes. 10% (medium) mode.

Had this thing since at least 2017, and it's my baseline light. You can tell by how unkempt it is.

I never really thought about "favorite" flashlight, but more as an EDC light. I am in no way classified as a flashlight collector but more as an "accumulator". I prefer AAA lights, as they are very light and take up the least amount of room, hence an EDC which normally is a Lumintop Tool AAA, but I have other AAA lights that would fit the bill.

I use that light several times a day and need to recharge/replace the eneloop at least weekly. I live in a 125 year old farmhouse that I never got around to adding more lighting, flashlights are just easier, and I am too cheep/lazy to wire in more lights. My wife "stole" my M2R Warrior to scare off the coyotes, before letting out the cat. They really, really don't like strobe.
