What are you drinking?

The cherry kills the plastic aftertaste.
My lady always has me test her fast food soda...i have yet to fail at picking out an artificial sweetener lol. Stevia comes close to the taste of sugar without that plasticky taste, but tastes like a hollow sweetness, not a full bodied sweetness like honey, can/refined sugar, or even high fructose. HFCS is TOO saturated, but tastes way better than all the fake sweeteners, but out of sweet soft drinks, those made with real sugar taste the best.

If I had to analogize the flavors, **fruit is sunlight at 100CRI, sugar is 90 CRI, High fructose is 85 CRI with some rosy or green tint, stevia is 70 CRI with horrendous green tint, all other artificial sweeteners are cheapo blue 5mm leds.

Taylor Fladgate 40yr Tawny Port is a favorite. Time to crack open another bottle.

A local shop has a couple bottles of Taylor Fladgate 1961 Single Harvest. Don't have any weddings or 'big' gatherings coming up, so it'd be a bit much for casual drinking. Could do a Taylor Fladgate Vintage 2017 instead, which the shop also has. But, dang, it sure sounds wonderful. Yum.

I've got a milestone birthday coming up. Grab a couple of 61s and come on over. 🤓

Just water for now. Sun's up and it's relatively hot (from a Norwegian's point of view), and I am driving in a bit.

I will likely splurge with some Urge (soda) from the fridge when I get home. Possibly putting the bottle in the freezer for about an hour before drinking.

Well, there's also this baby. Taylor's found a couple of casks of the stuff several years ago, parting it out in small flasks. Were about $3500 a bottle. No idea what that's gotten up to, these days. Apparently, the taste is stunning.

You're on your own with that one, though. Sorry. :grin2:

Bleh...diet sodas all have that weird, pseudo plasticky aftertaste...slightly bitter and plucky...not pleasant at all..
I almost completely quit drinking sodas with sugar or high fructose corn syrup. My soft drink of choice now is Coke Zero or other "zero" sodas. Diet Coke is awful. The result? I've lost over 40 pounds with no other diet changes. Keeping my weight around 205 or less.

I like Coke Zero better than regular Coke. I don't like citrus flavor sodas as much as I used to. When I had covid (and nearly died from the pneumonia fallout from battling the virus) my taste sense got whacked. It mostly recovered but has retained the oddity that citrus flavors are amplified. Orange in a good way, lemon and lime not so good. Meadow Gold Orange Dream Bars are the best, imagine your favorite sweet orange flavor and double that. Before my taste sense recovered, those ice cream bars were one of the few things I could actually taste. What took longest to come back was the savory/umami taste, which was awful since I really like beef jerky.

So orange Fanta and Shasta California Dreamin' (both available in Zero versions) are to me even better than before. Sprite, 7-Up, Mountain Dew, Starry etc, they're all sickly overly sweet to me - the sweetness overpowers the flavor.

My sense of smell has taken a hit--I must have had COVID-19 and didn't realize it. I really miss my sense of smell, it used to be really good. Nice thing is I don't notice the smell when someone passes gas. Bad thing is I can't smell food cooking, or taste food as well. I hope this gets over soon (so I can smell and taste food better, not so I can smell someone's gas!). Anyone know how long Long COVID can last?

That's one thing I've never liked about orange juice, berry juices, most sodas. That overpowering sweetness.

One thing I enjoy: a big glass of water, with a small lime or lemon squeezed into it. That juice is plenty zippy, and (at least to me) only slightly sweet-tasting. I prefer it to most anything that comes in a jar or can, these days.

Just don't make it like Sheila...

What I did, and I have no idea where I got the idea, I was rather loopy at the time, was I brushed my teeth *and my tongue* with Cinnamon Crest toothpaste. Then I took a swig of original flavor Listerine and held it in my mouth for as long as I could stand it. Most of my taste sense was back. 'Course a lot of our sense of taste also comes from our sense of smell. It's why many things taste different or bland if your nose is stopped up or if you just pinch your nostrils shut while eating.

Simply Gold Peak Lemonade Tea. An Arnold Palmer, but not overly acidic nor overly sweet.

I came across this stuff while working in Alaska. And I can easily find it in just about every state...except Florida.
In Florida, only Walmart carries it. Worse, only a handful of stores in the state will carry it. There's ONE store in Orlando, ONE in Tampa, ONE outside of Daytona, NONE in Miami, ONE in Fort Myers, NONE in Jacksonville. And because Walmart's supply chain sucks, the stores are usually out of it. Even after 6 years, I still can't reliably get it.

When I can get to a state which has actual grocery stores, the shelves are loaded with it.

So, when I find it, I stock up on it.
