I been using this big beam lantern around the house at night. Talk about old school, but I really like it.

Steel battery compartment? Stamped steel supports? Special poured glass lens? That lantern must have cost quite a bit back in the day. I bet today the cost to have that made in the USA would be very high. Looks like auto lamps were used for the bulbs. Of course, today it would be put together with LEDs.

I had a different Big Beam light on my first go around on CPF. It was red though.

I have same incand 4AA Streamlight with 4 Eneloop and Potted WA01319-U (4.8V, 1.9A) bulb. Much brighter than stock bulb.

Each 3V usb rcr123 batteries holds about 2.5 volt at about 1~1.5 Amp draw so almost same as primary CR123A. So the bulb is infact 5 volts or nominally called 6 Volt bulb.

I’d love a drop in but my tail switch seems to be going out and I’d hate to waste my money it. Love these lights and good to know there’s options for them.

Decided to see just how useful my old 2AAA Dark green body Mini-Mag. (stock inca.) can be as an EDC light.

Sometimes I use a Philips that is incan and Maglite like. Old incans are still pretty good.

I have had good luck with Streamlight. They replaced a switch of mine in a similar case not once but twice. Worth a shot.
