That repair attempt wasn't a total failure - it provided some good learning experiences.
I guess. Still would've been better for him had the fix worked - an XBox controller, for his earnings, is practically unaffordable. Conversion rates leave our currency in the absolute gutter relative to the dollar.

Back on topic, today at around 5:10 the power went out. So I used my Sofirn SP40 headlamp to make coffee before work.

Many hours ago, not very exciting. Eating peanuts at my computer desk while watching YouTube. Felt one get away from me, drop to the floor. Couldn't find it. Grabbed my 4AA LED Husky brand flashlight that I keep above my desk. Found it! Very back of the desk. Yeah.... I'm not getting on all fours, crawling to the back to retrieve half a peanut. Grab me a cheap, telescoping, back-scratcher. Used my light and the artificial tiny metal hand to pull the half peanut towards me. (No, I didn't eat it.)

Those lights are shite. Where'd you get that scratcher at? Someone here gave me one once.

I’m disappointed in you. You should’ve eaten it. That’s a good floor peanut

They're nothing special. But make for good beater lights easily found at any Brick & Mortar Home Depot, being that Husky is one of their in-house brands. Anything happens to it, I'm not going to care. For the average person, the current Husky models are more than good enough.

Back-scratcher was purchased at a .99 Cent Store. Also, typically found at the front counter of a lot of Gas Stations.

For as much as you use lights **** blocking tresspassers you would think you would get 1337 operator lights from Surefire, Cloud Def, Streamlight, and Elzetta with some kind of Malkoff as a backup light.

Tonight was the night lads! I get home from riding my bike that used Fenix bike lights to a fellow flashlight enthusiast's house where we discussed the finer points of a Helikon Tex light that out performed his MiniMaglite LED.

When I posted here I noticed I got a few phone calls from my buddy. I go over and visit him and he is like his grandpa wants me to look for a missing dog. I disregard that that same dog had attacked me three times and I had to repel it the last time with a less lethal option. I rush out of the house as if I was batman responding to the bat signal! This is my chance to play with lights.

For one time in my life I may get to use my SAR training and who knows what fun could happen. I grab my pack and just start filling it with lights: Mag LED 6D, Led Lenser X21R, Magcharger Halogen, SL20, Lupine Betty with spare cell, Stinger, Stinger 2020, Clulite Smartlight LED, Magcharger LED, and that Helikon Tex. It was damn near bring everything!!!!

To be continued....

I knew the area well having operated in or played around there when I was younger. Lets see I went playing flashlight tag there when 2D krypton plastic lights that cost less than a set of Duracells were all teh rage, played paintball, hide and seek, played with toy guns, played airsoft, went shooting 9mms with a cute loli, played with gen3 NVGs in the woods, and some drunken teens drove me there once to shoot some LMGs.

Anyways we start scanning the area with the lights. I offer a Led Lenser P17R Core or a Clulite SM-LED to my buddy but he insists on using his 4x18650 china light that has seen some action recently against some animal that got inside his house.

TBC........

By this point the Lupine Betty and LL X21R are getting all the action.

I would scan with the Stinger 2020 which outperformed the new Magcharger and light up items of interest with the X21R or Lupine.

At some point we seen a pair of eyes in the woods but by the time I stopped illuminmating it and got my cameraphone it was gone. We entered the woods and I commented about how the only thing that could make this night better would be if it was in October and we had spent hours watching horror films. This bothered my friend who was scared to be in this woods at night.

Apparently a exSF guy and a US marine had camped in this area some decades ago and got into a firefight with some creature which could not be killed and broke a thick tree and did some other stuff. It seemed to much like Dog Soldiers to me and I had been in the same woods late at night at first back in 2017/18 with RPK with anywhere from 346 rounds to 22 30 round mags and maybe 8 45 rounders and 2 60 pufs all loaded with 7n6 and the attitude of just wanting to empty hundreds of rounds into anything remotely dangerous just to wake up the neighbours. I then moved up to body armour, gen3 NVG, and belt fed Minimi but still nothing.... Once again tonight with both of us nogunz same result.

At some point we get to this part in the woods and my friend won't go any farther. No plan if we find the dog anyways and we turn back. Was a fun short hike with lots of lights.

I know I really need a light with more throw now and the high CRI of the Stinger 2020 was good with the X21R really waking me up inside as the Youtube video goes.

Looks like a fun time. Too bad you didn't find the dog.

I used my Fenix TK22 TAC while grilling in the dark tonight. It's not the best for that, but it was in my pocket so I went with it. Definitely not the best CRI and tint for that.

Yeah Hi CRI is really important when grilling in the dark.

I used my Sofirn D25L headlamp in my attic to seal off my whole house attic fan for the winter.

Great pics. I wonder if a thermal camera would've helped with the search.
