What did you use your flashlight for today?

Laughing Rabbit sent me a replacement (I did not ask) when I talked to them about a first generation that had a split in the case. It still worked.

The ReX (discontinued) and Proton were made in China however (if memory serves)

Other than the Cyan, I believe the others all have (nice color rendering) Yuji emitters (it was easy to replace)
Wait.....not the same old first gen that was in your Yuji video that you made a while back is it??

Shamefully, I don’t remember!

It should be mentioned that the Photon Freedom circuitry (especially on lowest setting) has extremely obvious pulse-width modulation (PWM). This can make rain or snow quite mesmerizing. Photon II is a good choice in terms of no PWM.

This post? The gag's flying clear over my head here. o_O

Anyway, used my S21A warm white (Nichia 519a 3000K) with a diffuser to light up my room last night, just because I was fancying a bit of "lantern" light. Reminds me I need to order some diffusers of multiple varieties from Simon...

Nitecore P30i nighttime survey of the fence line on my acreage (thought I heard a pack of coyote).

I used an older Nichia drop-in light today to check my water pipe. The county is doing a survey to check for lead service pipes. I think it's copper, so that's good. :)

I also used my Fenix TK22 TAC for plenty of uses around the house recently as usual, probably too many to easily list.

It could have been soldered with solder containing lead...you might want to test the solder. I have copper pipes in my house, and my late father did the soldering, but I don't know what he used--I should test the solder joints. Thankfully, I think my water is hard enough that it won't matter if it has lead, but I would feel better knowing for sure. I still should filter the water, regardless, since I am on municipal water (accidents happen).

That solder is probably lead with an acid-core flux.

Last night, I'm up on my feet. Leaning over on one of the multi-camera security monitors at my work-desk. All of a sudden from below the desk, I hear something weird. For those who've seen the original Predator film, you know the creature makes an odd clicking sound. Well, that's what I heard, only a bit lower in tone.

Before I know it my clip-carried (bezel-down) Nitecore MH12S is in my hand before I have a chance to think about reaching for my main light. Fire it up!.... And nothing. 1800 lumens in such a tight spot. Even with part of the desk hollowed out where a critter could hide.... nothing.

Ironically this situation did confirm what I've already suspected. Over the years I've carried and pulled out so many bezel-down, clip-carried main lights that I've developed muscle memory. Have been experimenting with bezel-up carry for a few months. But if the light is a little long, thumb placement on the tailcap ends up being awkward at times. Not good. Okay, experimenting over.

Just a few moments ago (it gets dark early here now), my daughter said, "Dad, can I borrow your flashlight for a second? I need to check something." Unaware, I walked over and handed her my Skilhunt E2A (with the memory set to high). Boom 💥, she wanted to check some makeup in the mirror. I got hit with the full blast of 600 lumens standing behind her. She just forgot that mirrors have one amazing feature when it comes to light :)

One thing I learned almost two decades ago, though thankfully not the hard way.... Always hand non-flashaholics your least powerful light when they ask to borrow one.

I left my headlamp at a family member's house by accident recently (I know, I should probably have more than 1!). My wife's car tires also went down in pressure because of the switch to colder weather. So there we were, before a long drive, airing up the tires at the gas station in the dark. Since I always have the Fenix TK22 TAC with me, we used that light, and thankfully my wife was willing to stand outside with me to hold the light for me. So it was pretty much as good as having the headlamp, but it could have been a pain if I was by myself.
