What did you use your flashlight for today?

Sadly, not possible since the "3" is directly to the right of the "0."

I always read your stories regarding coworkers with astonishment. I mean you don't need an Ph.D. to do security work of course, but some of them seem to leave their brains at home when leaving for work.

On topic, used my PD25R to check on my washing machine water intake, since it was leaking somewhat. Fortunately it's an easy repair.

Heck, that's nothing. I nearly had to pepperspray a new co-worker who showed up for training one night. That was only a few short weeks ago. All of the crazy circumstances came together perfectly for that almost to have happened. Among them, his anger-control issues stemming from my refusal to bow down to his religious beliefs. A disrespectful New Age Energy religion fanatic who totally lost it when I told him where he could shove his beliefs, after he tried imposing them on me. I don't tolerate that! But I didn't have to reach for my flashlight, so never posted the finer details on here.

Those are the ones that usually just take the job for the "experience" before applying to the police force. Its like being stupid is an official prerequisite for joining the RCMP.

Light up a friend.

Oh! For just a moment there I was afraid you were going to say that something was the remains of a frog.
No, I've had a good run over the years and only ever hit one hare. Quite sad, I hate hurting animals, although I daresay it neither felt nor knew anything of its end. The mower certainly didn't either.

I never found out exactly what blew the belt this time, but the everything grows like eden at this time of year, grass and weed alike. So the poor mower was straining every one of its horsepowers to the very maximum, and I was pushing it to beat the rain. Judging by the break, I guess I just showed up an existing weakness.

Picked up a new headlamp at Princess Auto to make a dent in my birthday gift card. Rubber headband, flexible COB LED array fro the main light and a little single LED for a spot light. It even has an IR sensor on it so you can swipe on, swipe off. That evening, I proudly used it to water the last few tomatoes hanging on at the end of September ( we don't expect frost till next week...super late!).

Sadly, this may be the most work I'll ever get out of the headlamp, because while trying to see what size LiIon I got for $12, I over-stressed the short wires leading to the COB headband and pulled it off the tiny solder pad. Not a problem, touch it with a tinned iron with lots of nice 63/37 tin-lead solder on it, and the joint is restored...till my clumsy re-assembly effort pulled the wire off again, this time tearing off the COB contact pad off the flexible band.

I'll either fix this today, or lean why I can't. Hey, cheap LiIon pouch cell if nothing else...and the spotlight function still works, even if the flexible COB band is not usable.

Just as well...how many times can I pull it down over my eyes and pretend to be Geordi LaForge?

Dang. I like the idea of a PIR sensor for a contactless on/off switch.

I did too, until I got one. Then I hated it, to be perfectly honest! Too easy to accidentally activate/deactivate, which in my line of work can mean losing a finger, or worse.

It's like touchscreens in vehicles - no one will admit it, but tactile controls are better in every way except feature stacking and novelty factor.

Unpopular opinion, but I'm sticking by it.

Don't forget keeping a bandana in the car to constantly wipe off that touch-screen after parking. Oh, especially on sunny days. Rented a previous gen. Nissan Sentra SV last year while my car was at the dealership for a massive self-imposed recall by Mazda that didn't effect my car at all.

Problem is, it had been two years; and every time I would take her anywhere that stupid recall would pop up on a shop's computer. While the fix was free, of course they had no loaner vehicles. So the rental came out of my pocket. Got the recall done because selling or trading her in was going to pose a huge headache later on, down the road.

The Sentra had a touch-screen. While I was impressed with it, the massive amount of finger prints on the screen were horrifying! She did have a surprising amount of pep in that engine. If the build quality wasn't slightly above garbage, I'd seriously consider tracking one down as my next ride. Also, SV stands for Standard Vehicle. The fact that a trim level exists below that one, is actually a bit troubling.

My wife took my now-high-CRI Elzetta Bravo from my belt and used it to light up my head so the doc could stitch it back together. Ooops. He said "No, I can see okay" (he couldn't), and then "Oh, that is quite good, isn't it". Gave me a small smile to think my light can compete with medical lights.

This sounds like one of those domestic abuse stories... But no, I just failed to duck a second time while moving out from under a machine to get another tool. No concussion, but a ton of blood and few stitches.

Glad to hear you're okay, Fuzzy.

Mine involves less blood but a massive amount of more frustration. My PC shut down thanks to a virus. Finally got it up and running again after a few hours. Used my Home Depot Husky 4AA LED model on High mode to investigate everything down at my feet to see what the main issue was. (Picture a 2C current Maglite model but with a wide rubberized head, and a low-profile recessed red, very squishy, overly sensitive tailcap forward-clicky switch.) This one lives above my desk at home. Surprisingly light-weight for a mostly metal flashlight.

Every morning I take Her Royal Magness out back for her morning potty. Every morning she waits until I scan the entire yard for bad guys, critters that will eat her, leaves, wind, and especially, cats. This morning was no different but I used my new Thrunite Saber - wow! Such light...many brightness...much lumens:grin2:

She'd better forget the cats and such and worry about that bloody dinosaur you posted the photo of! :)

That looks like it does the job nicely. It's amazing how much light we can have in a pocketable package these days, and sometimes we need all we can get rather than just enough to get by. We don't need to skimp and just get by anymore. 'There is no virtue in suffering'.

Ouch!!! I hope you're on the mend now.
