I was just reading Bushman5's impressions thread and it inspired me to ask a question that has been forming for a while. Rather than hijack his thread I decided to start another.
Let's say you have one of the once-upon-a-time brightest, most fanciest, everybody is drooling to get one custom made lights and it stops working. Dead! There is no warranty, no spare parts anymore. It is now a paperweight. Or you have, as I do, an HDS EDC light. Again from what I have read no spare parts anymore to do repairs. Can this paperweight be modded by one of the many genuises here on CFP to once again be something to drool over, i.e. rip out the guts and rebuild it within the shell?

You have a few options here, your first option is the easy one....Novatac took over all repairs on the HDS EDC line of flashlights. You can contact them and they should be able to help you get it fixed.

Option #2, there's a ton of modders around here that im sure could help you. Give Milkyspit a PM, im sure you'll get a light you'll love even more than this light stock.

Let me clarify, I don't have a problem with any light at this time. This is a what if.
Option 1- Someone posted recently that they had an HDS EDC light with a bad switch. They contacted Novatac and were told there were no replacement parts.
Option 2- This is what I was getting at I guess. If I have a shell of what was once a great light. Could Milky or others take that and manufacturing totally new parts redesign a new light around it? Again a what if. Any modders ever given thought to something like this?

I'd probably be real pissed, and not buy something like that again.

As for option 2, it's probably cheaper to buy a new light.

That is why I use lights which are easily available like SF and Mag so I can swap parts.
