My light drawer was overflowing and I couldn't find certain ones lately without 10 minutes of digging.

So I cleaned it out last night and kept the good ones (only about 20 lights) in there.

But Now I've got probably 30-40 lights that I guess were "needed" at some point in the past, but that really don't serve a purpose anymore.

Most of them ae really nice light and are in new condition. I've got probably 7 or 8 D-Cell mags with LED drop-ins, several AA mini-mags (all with 1w or 3x5mm LED), and a few other "nice" ones. There's a lot of cheap ones too like the 9-LED 3xAAA models that were so revolutionary just a few short years ago. I also have tons of other junk like 4 or 5 brand new IQ switches, etc...

I alreay have over $5k in charity donations for the year, so I don't really want to just dump them somewhere.

Do you all just put your old ones in a big box somewhere and store them "just in case?" Or do you do something else? I doubt I could sell them for any reasonable amount. And you can't really give them as gifts because they aren't in the origial packaging. Or can you?

What do/would YOU do?

Hoard them.

A gift, especially to a friend or comrade, doesn't necessarily need to be in it's original packaging. Just make sure to tell them how special/different it is. If you just say, "Hey, I'm getting rid of some of my old flashlights, do you want it?" They're going to think it's just junk that you're dumping on them.

Comedy Option: Go to a walking park at night and hand them out randomly to strangers.

Put them in a time capsule for future discovery. Who knows, in a couple of years they may have great value as antiques!:sleepy:

I give a lot of lights as gifts generally explaining why they're "special" but I keep telling myself that I've got to sell off some to reduce the collection, but in the real world of CPF'ers they're just about worth the postage ----

I am going to sell off a bulk buy (collection) I made a few weeks ago on CPFMP and plan to throw in a few surprise extras. When I get around to it. Or I might just buy another 6 drawer chest.

if the tint/build is bad, I keep them
If whats above is good, and it uses alkalines instead of lithium, then I give them away to anyone who wants them, usually people around me...where I don't have to drive or need to go to a post office

I sell lights i don't want at an indoor "Hamfest" (Hamradio Fleamarket) or a regular fleamarket. Put a sign near the light> "Quality Flashlights". I generally sell 90% of the lights i don't want anymore. Put fresh alkalines in them.

It's like one of those contests where you have to guss how many jellybeans are in the giant jar!

Guess how many Arc-AAA and win a prize!

I think I see 10 open and 2 more in bags? So 12 total? it's pretty tricky! There's a few that look a lot loke an Arc-AAA but I don't think they are.

Give us like 24 hours before you tell us the answer powernoodle! 🙂

I think I'll pile all of mine inthe floor like this and make a sort of where's waldo type pic for you all. 🙂

I have given away flashlights and pocket knives as gifts to family members and neighbors and as tips for good service to plumbers, roofers, store clerks, etc.

Easy solution.... Send them to me!

Okay, just kidding. The suggestion to give them away to others who might find a use for them, that's the best idea. To a non-flashaholic, any of your old lights would most likely be the brightest one they've ever owned.

With CR123 based lights, it would be best to give those away to another flashaholic.
