It will soon be possible, to run the Inretech adaptors in a two D cell Mag.
Chief_Wiggum will soon have his 4 AA to D cell adaptors available.
With a series-parallel version, alkaline would yield 3V, NiMH would yield 2.4V, both at double the capacity of the AA cell used.
This makes 6V w/alkalines & 4.8V w/NiMH possible in a 2 D Mag.
And one could even run the Inretech Helios, or the Inretech Mega6, in a two D cell Mag, albeit, a very short runtime...
with two Chief_Wiggum series adaptors, w/NiMH, overdriven @ (9.6V)
with two ElektroLumens 3 to D adaptors, w/alkalines, driven at spec @ (9V).
In a three D cell Mag...
with three ElektroLumens 3 to D adaptors
w/NiMH, overdriven @ 10.8V
Now, consider this:
With one of these one D cell Mags:
and a Chief_Wiggum 4 AA to D cell adaptor, You could run a Trilight or Super6...
w/alkalines, overdriven @ 6V. (I run my Super6 @ 6V in a four C cell Mag.)
w/NiMH, overdriven @ 4.8V.
With an ElektroLumens 3 to D cell adaptor, You could run a Trilight or Super6...
w/alkalines, driven at spec @ 4.5V
w/NiMH, underdriven @ 3.6V
Of course, there are the standard options of using both the 3 to D, and 4 AA to D adaptors, in the standard way, paralleled, to take advantage of the faster rechargeability of the AA cell, or the universality of having all of one's lights run on AA cells.
I.e., A three D cell Mag with a TriLight or Super6...
and three 3 to D or three 4 AA to D adaptors.
Or a six D cell Mag with a Helios or Mega6...
and six 3 to D or 4 AA to D adaptors.
How about a one D cell Mag, with an EverLED? They are reported to run a little brighter when driven at >3V.
With a one D cell Mag and...
an ElektroLumens 3 to D adaptor, w/alkalines @ 4.5V, w/NiMH @ 3.6V
a Chief_Wiggum 4 AA to D series adaptor, w/alkalines @ 6V, w/NiMH @ 4.8V.
Or a Chief_Wiggum 4 AA to D series-parallel adaptor, w/alkalines @ 3V, w/NiMH @ 2.4V. (half the voltage, double capacity)
What about the Hotlips heatsink/adaptor?
With a a two D cell Mag...
and two ElecktroLumens 3 to D series adaptors, w/alkalines overdriven @ 9V DD or w/BadBoy 700/750, w/NiMH @ 7.2V & a BadBoy 700/750.
and two Chief_Wiggum 4 AA to D series adaptors, w/NiMH overdriven @ 9.6V, or w/BadBoy 700/750.
and two Chief_Wiggum 4 AA to D series-parallel adaptors, w/alkalines or NiMH & BadBoy 700/750.
Or a one D cell Mag and...
A Chief_Wiggum 4 AA to D adaptor w/alkalines or NiMH & BadBoy 700/750.
An ElektroLumens 3 to D adaptor w/alkalines & a BadBoy 700/750.
What do you think of these future options? Can you think of any other combinations?
