There was a power outing here today. And at my spouse work they hade no emergency flashligts. So what do you suggest?
Something that can stand un used for several years and still work when needed, and then work for several hours. Maybe something using eneloops? But big so it isn't easily misplaced. For indoor use so it dosn't need to be so bright.

Fenix E01 and a lithium cell ;)

If you have a big stash where the emergency lights are kept, there's no need for "big" lights (and you struggle to misplace your only light when it's dark!!). Either that or a stock magLED.

I'd get a 3D mag and drop a Mag LED drop in in there. IT'll run for over 10 hours on one charge of NiMH cells.

I built a 3D mag with a NG750 driver and a P4 LED for my friend to run with primary cells It should be good for over 10 hours on a charge as well.

Will a lithium cell work if not in use for several years?

is this gonna be put in her work desk...if so use AA lithium light or D size light for long runtimes

What is your budget by the way?

As you mentioned, you prefer something big so you could find it easier, so I would suggest a 3D MagLite with LED drop in for longer runtime. If you don't mind using CR123a batteries, you could consider Surefire G2L or Surefire 6PL. To make it more visible, you could wrap it with glow in the dark lanyards, or tape.

You may also want to consider a small AAA flashlight to keep in pocket at all times.

This is for an Office Setting where they won't be used a lot any you ust need enough light to get by Right? And maybe cheap enough that the office buys them.

In that case I would go with the cheap (Rayovac/Energizer?) two pack single 5mm LED plastic flashlights. I think they are 2-D and run something like $9.00 (or less) for the two.

Should run forever on 2-D cells and cheap enough to not use.

OK looking online I think they are either 3-AA or 3-AAA but still cheap and long runtime.

2D Magled i think would be perfect..not too big but big enough and it will run for at least 24 hours ...from the kitchen bounce thread
and you can mod with seoul for more output

I keep a Nuwai Q3 and a spare SureFire 123A battery in my desk drawer. Shelf life of 10+ years[10 years to 85% power], and it makes a good loaner to boot.

There's a type of flashlight which do no need battery. It comes with a dynamo. You spin a level to generate the power. I came across one that can light up for 45 mins with 1 min spin.

If you are in the US I like Maglights with the LED module as well(I gather from reading here that Mags can be too expensive outside the US).Specifically the 2C Mag with a Magled or TerraLUX TLE-6EXB.Using AA to C adapters you can use Energizer lithium AAs or rechargable AAs and still have the abilty to use the standard C cells should you so desire.I wouldn't store alkalines in the light as they are more likely to leak over time.New packs of C cells could be stored seperately though.

I just went to Wamart.

They have a 2-D cell three LED (5mm with optics) that would be good for office use.

$7.00 or so.

I just can't see spending $50 for a light to keep in a desk.

I have a MagLed 4d cell. Bright enough and runs for a long time. Flashlightreviews.com ran it for 43.20 hrs to 50% brightness. If you are stationary you might think of an led lantern. The Coleman led 8d will light up a room with ease and as you can imagine with 8ds it will run for a long time.
