What flashlight do you keep in your vehicle?

🫣 I don't keep any in my car, maybe it's just me but leaving batteries in the wildly changing temps of a car interior worry me? I keep my L3 L11C 4-way on my keychain on me at all times, right along side my SOG Centi II knife for daily tasks
At the very least, a good pen-light in the car's glove-box. Useful for popping into the mouth while changing a tire. Need both hands free, and a way to hold a light. Though an inexpensive headlamp kept in the glove-box would likely be better.

I've kept flashlights loaded with Li Ion cells for the past 12 years, without an issue. Before that I had a Garmin GPS, and it was often left on the dash with no protection.

I recall that Garmin did in fact recall a number of their units because of fire. I did a google search for current information, and what I found said that there weren't any fires but the plastic melted. They were related to a batch of Chinese made batteries. They recalled them, replaced the batteries and there haven't been any additional issues.

I currently have three flashlights in my Jeep. A convoy s2+, a Sofirn P36 BLF with three cells, and a Sofirn D25L headlamp. They each take 18650 Li Ion cells.

Update on the Pelican 3410MCC -

A certain associate, who shall remain nameless, amicably refuses to return the second 3410MCC I lent him to play with. Apparently it's "too good a work torch" to give back…!

Battery life is very good. But today for interest I trialled some "Pale Blue Earth" brand batteries in the torch. They are USB-C rechargeable lithiums, but controlled-voltage at 1.5v, with heat and current protection. Thought I'd give them a go over alkaleaks or primary lithiums.

The batteries work nicely in a bunch of devices, but showed bad flickering in the Pelican 3410MCC. We tested the batteries and the torch, and the torch appeared to be kicking the batteries' built-in regulators repeatedly, causing the flickering.

I'm guessing the Pelican is some form of direct drive maybe. Interesting, but back to lithium primaries for this one. :)

Let's see if a video shows…

Edit: Hmm, the video compressions seems to have largely eliminated the flickering. Shame. I'll leave this here for reference anyway.

I have whatever is on my person usually. I do carry several flashlights for work.

I just got a new Nitecore EDC23 this week. As if I really needed another light!

Used SolarForce are going for premium prices on eBay, today.
Might want to consider selling them if they're just hanging out in your vehicle.

There are a lot of good lights out there nowadays, back 50 years ago the only good light was the MagLight, now those are junk. Anyway, I chose my first NEBO Redline Blast Big Daddy 2,000 because I got a 45% off deal, but once I owned it for a while I really liked it, so I bought a second one, and now I have 5 of them, I've had that light for about 6 years. That light runs off of 9 AA bats; it has an odd square beam on spot mode, not sure why.

I have two Torchys that put out 1000 lumens in two of my cars; and I have a Slyde King, I think that one puts out 1,000 lumens, not sure though. All of those are rechargeable.

Then I also have a Nebo Slim that runs off of 3 AAA bats that they no longer make, and I think that one outs 400 or 500 lumens. It has a spot beam and a bar flood beam, but it's the light I take when I go bicycle camping and touring. It's thin, lightweight and takes up very little space, I carry a spare set of AAA bats in case they die while camping. They now have a rechargeable one, but I don't see the purpose of it for what I'm doing with it.

None of my NEBO lights have ever caused any problems.

I store a Peak Eiger SS ultra 519a with some spare AAAs alongside an extra Glock mag, Leatherman, and extra utility blades.
