What happened to the new Jet I Pro IBS?

Brightest AA on the market!...and not one peep out of anybody save a gracious dealer in Australia and some gentleman in Hong Kong that we should "thank you very much" also for taking the time to provide us some beamshots.

Has the pendulum swung that hard (recently) from good 'ol raw in-your-face output to interface; switches and circuitry?

I thought that Jetbeam did a pretty good job of designing for us exactly what we wanted in terms of the latest in hard driven LED technology....threw in an ultra-deep (somewhat adjustable) reflector that no one else on the market was even coming close to...and then...

We complained about the efficiencies...so they (supposedly) did their damnest to fix it.

Where's the love? :sigh:

I've got a couple of older JB's and I find them so hard to use (complex interface). Maybe others are afraid to take the plunge for that reason??

That's a very good question ... my best guess is that it's similar to the original Jet I Pro and people lost interest in talking about it.

Jet I Pro IBS seems like a good light and I definitely want to give it a shot soon.

Competition in the 1AA market has moved beyond reverse clickies.
Personally I have a Jet-I IBS; I like it, but don't need a pro version just for a slightly bigger reflector. It still isn't going to be able to stand agianst the big boys for throw. The efficiency was improved but still isn't stellar. The max output is nice on paper but isn't really noticeably brighter than the competition due to the nature of human eyes.

I've got the newer Jetbeam I MK IBC, and I overall like it a lot. In fact, I like it's UI much better than the NDI I have, and I'm totally happy with it's output.

BUT, the switch sucks big time, and Jetbeam pretty much ignores it with a "who cares?" attitude. To make the switch even close to being useable, I had to put a shim between the switch and the rubber cover, but I'm still not liking it much even though it's a little better.

So I'll still use the light, but I've fallen out of love with Jetbeam because I don't think they follow through with their product very well.

Maybe I'm not alone in having some issues with their designs?

i just ordered the Jet 1 Pro IBS from bugoutgearusa hope its not to complicated to use

Don't have the Pro but do have the Jet-1 MK IBS. Amazing output for its size (when using a 3.6V battery, but on an AA it's similar to a Fenix L1D). Switching between modes is fine, but turning it on and off is a pain in the thumb! The spring load on the switch is way too high. Still really like the light.

That's most of it in a nutshell right there. There always seems to be some issues with them. Nice exterior and machining but they can't seem to get other things right.

I've got a Jet 1 MK IBS and the clicky is hard as a rock. You have to push it with the tip of your finger or thumb with much more force than should be necessary. Other than that, I love the light.

Hello....Is the thumb pressure on the JetbeamIII I.B.S just as hard? I have really bad arthritis thumb issues and this would make the model III a definite no way for me if this is true of all the models in this series..William

Thanks ahead for any advice to be given to me....

people are waiting for the upgrade pill

That's amusing :)

I'm selling the Jet-I Pro I.B.S. upgrade pills at my cost, yet not a single person has ordered one from me despite the order period for them ending next week. They will not be a stocking item and are a one time run, so people had better not wait too long! I suspect that people don't realise that they need to pre-order these.

On the question of switch pressure, the current production products are a more "normal" switch pressure.

If anyone wants some numbers, I've sold a grand total of 3 Jet-I Pro EX's and 1 Jet-I Pro. It is amazing what people will do to save 30 cents (approximate eBay savings after CPF discount). Hong Kong sellers really do put the pressure on small retailers.

Oddly, I've sold more Jet-III Pro Titanium editions than Jet-I Pro/Pro EX's in total, and the Jet-I runs a AA and can be EDC! I think we need someone to do a thorough review of the Jet-I Pro I.B.S. that evaluates this model on its merits alone and doesn't get mired in the past.

Regards,
Eric

I've had a Jet-I MK IBS, which was exchanged for a Jet-I Pro IBS. I actually quite liked both lights, but both have turned out to be duds. The MK IBS had faulty electronics and required 20+ soft presses to change modes, and the Pro IBS has extremely annoying flickering and pulsing below 50% brightness, which renders it useless for me if I want to do anything other than spotlight possums.

I actually think the IBS interface is pretty bloody good, and the Jet-I's are well built (apart from the crappy switch), and very bright throwers. I certainly appreciate what JetBeam is now offering, but technology moves just as fast in torches as everywhere else - there are now AA torches such as the LiteFlux LF5XT and Nitecore D10 which are approaching feature parity with higher end CR123 torches like Novatac, and which just leave the Jet-I standing (YMMV).

Eric, I was all set to get a Jet-I Pro IBS from southernlights.com.au, except that I got one via exchange. If you can guarantee me a non-flickering non-faulty UI Jet-1 Pro IBS, I might still...

From selfbuilt early last month:
"...I've generally tried to stay away from lumen estimates, but if you believe the NDI is about ~130 lumens (which is reasonable compared to my Novatac 120P), then I would say the original Jet-I Pro was likely in the ~140-150 lumen ballpark. Extrapolating further from my IBS models, I'd say the IBS is certainly capable of exceeding >220 lumens (hard to say for sure without a good calibration standard)..."

6 months ago...had anybody speculated (and keep in mind that selfbuilt only did so above with no advance information in hand) that an upcoming light might just produce 50% more output than anything previous?...this would be the NDI or D10 thread all over again (heck, even 25% would've prodded members in to asking just when SB was to receive his next review sample).

:sssh::sleepy:

I have an older MKIIx and the switch does take a lot of pressure to operate. Comparing it to my new Jet II IBS the difference is night and day. The JET II IBS clicky is very easy to operate(switch pressure is less, button is bigger, and slightly protrudes).

The way I see it is the new Nitecores aren't really comparable lights to the IBS lights. The IBS models have three levels that the user can program any way they see fit. The Nitecores have two factory set levels and one user level thats erased every time you change to one of the two presets levels(very annoying). On top of that the Nitecores have a max output of ~ 130 lumens and the IBS models are pushing ~ 220 lumens.

I've got a Jet 1 MK IBS too.

I love everything about it except the switch.

The switch sucks.

I wish there was some sort of upgrade available.

I have a Jetbeam III and the pressure required is not excessive, quite similar actually to CL-E or recent Fenixes.

I was all set to get a Jet-I Pro IBS from southernlights.com.au, except...

Nitecore had to release the D10 (which is cheaper by $15 - not including shipping) :0
Although I would rather have bought from a local supplier the Jet 1 just didn't seem that useful for edc compared to other offerings.

You can't read any of the threads that discuss the Jet 1 MK IBS without virtually EVERYONE complaining about that crappy switch.

And THAT is why I'll never again buy anything from JetBeam.

If Jetbeam cared at all about it's customers and it's reputation, they'd have offered a replacement switch a long time ago.
Unfortunately for the future of Jetbeam, I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way.
