Like I said, most major makers will have lights strong enough for what you want to do. Here's one test https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/233856&highlight=tk40+torture+test

I think I may have made my point :)

1-Avoid glass lenses
2-Avoid click switches
3-Lighter is better (F=MA, more M results in more F upon drop impact)

SF G2 with plastic lens. Malkoff M60L + SF primaries

The energizer hard case tactical lights are pretty tough too. There was a woot video where they threw the 2AA model against a brick wall, dropped it off a 5 story building several times and ran over it with a car.

The TK20 and TK40 have a reputation of similar abuse.

I will be using this light for caving mostly and i dont want to have to worry about it banging on rocks and breaking when im crawling, climbing, etc...

Ok well...I stand by my recommendation for the Ra twisty because it is tough. But now that we know you wanna cave with it I have to recommend a headlamp. Others have mentioned fenix new head lamp...I agree thats what your lookin for. But really you could go with a streamlight or surefire polymer style light. I use my streamlight polytac when I am going in for some rough use conditions. http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=159

Bombproof and decent runtime for caving... the fenix E01? I am almost sure someone will be using a headlamp with 3xAAA cells, so you will have plenty of spares :p

I remember seeing Marduke's helmet with a E01 tied with zip-tie and the TK20 as handheld for caving.

Well, to be "bomb proof" it would basically need to meet 5 criteria:
1- LED (Won't break on impact like incan)
2-Twisty (Not as failure prone as clickies)
3-(Quality) Non-glass lens (Lexan/borofloat)
4-Nitrolon or HA Type-III Finish
5-Waterproof

Lights that meet this criteria (off the top of my head) and are quality made:

RA-Twisty
C2/C3 LED
L1/LX1
L2/LX2
G2/G3 LED

The Inova X-5 (while tough) can get moisture intrusion from the front where the LEDS are.

The clikies have smaller interior plastic parts that are prone to breakage from drops/cold.

Check out the C2 that survived an IED blast in Iraq on Surefire True Stories section...everything worked fine, but the lens had cracked from the blast/shock wave.

Hope this helps ya decide.

The only flashlight that I have seen survive a road side bomb in Iraq was a Surefire. I think that it was a 6P but I'm not positive as I don't have access to the MRAP RG33 photos that I used to when I was working for the company that made them. The Surefire flashlight was inside the RG33 when the IED went off and I don't know if it still worked, but it looked just fine with no obvious signs of damage in the photos.

Anyway...you said that you wanted bomb proof. I have yet to see photos of *any* other brand of flashlight that survived an IED blast like Surefire.
