What is the brightest 5mm white LED ?

I find some very confusing information about this subject. Some will say Nichia's DS are among the brightest...
Thing is, on Nichia's web site they advertise their DS leds as being 27000 mcd.
I found a seller on ebay that claims to have 55000 mcd 5mm white leds..!

What is THE brightest 5mm White LED around these days ?

mcd is probably only a measure of throw and not output.

You can have a dim LED with a high mcd value if you have a very narrow beam. You can also have a bright LED with a low mcd value because of it's wider beam angle.

At 140degrees[flood]..sounds good, also have warm white,there is a 40degree unit somewhere here too,think its a 10mm though, all 5 chip designs
