What kind of e1e is this?

that looks like the older E1 (not elite) with teardrop bezel.

Do you know for certain it is a Surefire light and not some knockoff? Didn't see any lettering on the light in the photo.

Yup, looks like the 'classic' E1 Executive in SG with teardrop bezel and clip mounted to the head. I almost bought one of these in HA. No writing on the body AFAIK, but there may be some on the tailcap. I THINK there are some whitish marks on the tailcap that could be the writing (should read "SUREFIRE USA" and "WWW.SUREFIRE.COM") but the photo isn't clear enough for me to see.

The newer E1e-SG (note the extra small "e") looks like this:

I know the body says only "E1" but it is mis-engraved, the E1e's all have the body-mounted clip.

It is an E1 in GM/SG finish.
It has it's PocketClip attached to it's bezel.
I am so glad they evolved on from that.

Unlike KevinL's E1e-SG that E1 does not have a LockOut TailCap (although a Z53 can be ordered)

This should how assembling SureFire in the dark can have interesting results.

Top: E1-BK bezel, E2-GM body, E2e LOTC
Middle: KL1-SG bezel, E1e body, E1-BK LOTC (Z54)
Bottom: E1e bezel, E1-BK body, E2-GM TailCap

Notice that you can tell whether it is a LOTC?

The E2e was also preceeded by by an E2. I remember all of the hullabaloo here when it came out. Lots of serious discussion on the advantages of the new Executive "elite" models,

Are you sure thats an E1? I cant seem to see any flat sides. from the point of view you see it, it doesnt have a flat side. Isnt it possible that its an E1E sg+sg balrog 1x123 body+sg tailcap? But the seller didnt seem to be so flashlightwise so its most likely an E1E SG (without the flatsides though? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif)

The light on eBay is a true E1. Those of us who have seen the E1 before know it's got no flat sides, it still has the teardrop bezel, and the clip is screwed on to the side of the bezel. No lettering or 'flats' on the sides.

My E1e-SG is a true E1e-SG, but mis-engraved "E1". The distinction between the two is the body mounted clip.

Will the CPF collectors with real E1-SGs please stand up... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PS: Ahh, I found them here. Bottom row, fourth from left, is a real E1-SG with all attributes as described above, including completely round body and no engraving on the sides. I think AWTYD should definitely know what is a real Surefire /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That is an E1 rather than an E1e.

I had an E1-GM back when the bezel did not have tear drops!
I think I may still have it somewhere...

I have that same model light in the ebay post. It's in my pocket right now. E1 (NOT E1e Executive Elite) Gun Metal Gray Finish. Bezel mounted pocket clip with teardrop indents.

Except for the seller mis-naming it an E1e, it looks legit to me. I keep this E2 Executive (E2-GM) in my courier bag, and I just happened to have a camera with me:

The gun metal finish is a bit lighter than it appears in this picture.

This was one if my first two SF's, along with a Z3. I bought both at a gun show, maybe 3 years ago, still sealed in their plastic clamshells. $120 for both. A good intro to SF and what comes out of the business end is as good as the newer models. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Except for what's shown in the pic, the only other writing is in white lettering around the rubber boot, "Surefire USA" on top, then "www.surefire.com" on the bottom.

Except maybe to Surefire junkies, I doubt it has any collector's value.

OI!! $120 is a STEAL!!

And what comes out of the business end of a Z3 is no slouch either, for life (and blasted retinas) begins at 100 lumens..

The E2 was like a door prize. The Z3 had already been discontinued, so maybe he just wanted rid of it, else he didn't know what he had. I've had a P91 in it for so long I dont even remember what 100 lumens looks like. Once you have 200+ lumnen from such a small light, it's hard to go back.

Ironically, though, it's not used much. It stays in my car for emergency use. The E2 is used regularly.

Too right!!

In standard sized SureFires (read G2/6P etc) I generally use the P61, and with the M3 I only use the MN16.

That's why I love my Z3. Got that at a gun show too. Nice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A 3-cell Classis combatlight and a 2-cell Executive are an excellent setup.
