Am I correct that few glues can bond ruvver to other materials like plastic?

I want to modify my Surefire combat rings but it seems taht the rubber is held by the shape of the undermolded plastic and not glued on.

So at what kind of extra-strong glues should I be looking at?

Rubber cement ( not a joke ) this is the stuff used to repair bicycle tires, you rough up the tire, apply a coating of rubber cement, then apply the patch. This process is actually vulcanization - bonding two pieces of rubber together.

I have had some success with Weldwood Contact cement gluing odd things together.

Barges Contact cement is used by shoe makers.

If the plastic undermould is firm (not squishy) then some 406 Loctite holds well if you rough the plastic up with some sandpaper first.
