What kinda battery testers do you use?

LED Flashlights.

I use a Radio Shack one.

It's great.

I check the batteries in my flashlights every so often if I don't use them for a while.

ZTS MBT-1

I used 2 multi meters(one to read amperage) and a resistor for a while. (get readings just as accurate as the ZTS after figuring out the stats)

+1 for the ZTS MBT-1. Ordered mine from Thomas Dist about a year ago and I use it all the time. I think it would be hard to beat in its price range (as long as you use more than one battery type)...

I like the ZTS MBT-1 also. This meter, unlike a volt meter, tests the battery under an immitation load. A volt meter alone will not tell you how much battery life you have left.

Recently, my EDC light has been an LF3XT. LiteFlux incorporates a battery testing feature and gives a fairly accurate voltage readout under the load of the actual brightness level you have your light set at. This feature is also found in the LF5XT. I wish more flashlights incorporated this feature, because out in the field, without carrying a separate battery tester with you, you can be caught by suprise when a battery goes during use since most of our LED lights are regulated and seem to die rather suddenly.

The ZTS mini looks pretty neat. Might pick one up, as my camera likes to eat AA batteries quickly.

BTW the wallet is calling to me: Must resist... ZTS mini...!

I have two Fluke DMM's (83III & 189) and a couple of analog one's too.

But the MBT-1 is what I've used for over two years now to check batteries under an appropriate load.

I press really hard on the little white circles on the side of the battery to see how far the bar goes :D

In all seriousness, do these testers actually measure battery health or just the voltage?

I have the assortment of el-cheapos, but I bought a digital multi-meter from Wal-Mart for $15 and it works great for voltage reading of batteries.
:duh2:

The Maha MH-C9000 charger, once it gets here. It gives you voltage and capacity.
I've been using a multimeter for a few years.
