What new products would you like to see from SureFire (or Streamlight) in the future?

It seems that SureFire is the Flashaholic's dream! Perfect beam, attention paid to every detail, highest qualiity craftmanship, maximum light output, and just a perfect beam. Did I mention perfect beam yet?

And Streamlight has been in the mainstream for LEO's for years. The SL-20x and SL-35X, Scorpion and UltraStinger and other Stingers are carried by uncouted thousands or LEO's. AND Streamlight is quietly introducing lots of LED's. I read somewhere that Streamlight is the largest (quantity wise) LED flashlight manufacturer in the world.

So, what would you like to see them do better? Or what new products or concepts developed?

OK, here are some of my "Pie in the sky" ideas.

Streamlight - Take all of your mainstream rechargables, and bring the beam up to SureFire Standards, but don't affect your already great bulb life. Make them 50 % lighter without affecting run time or brightness.

Streamlight - Keep on Truckin' in the direction of LED's. Your 4AA, 7 LED light is great! Give me that same new battery brightness, via regulation and DC to DC converters, and let the thing run for 6-10 hours.

Streamlight and SureFire - Give us state of the art, rechargables.

SureFire - I would like to see a M4 and M6 without the turbo head design. I don't often need to see a thousand feet in front of me, but a brighter, wider light at 400-600 feet would be nice.

Brightness regulation for both SureFire and Streamlight - It seems that some people only use brand new, very fresh SureFire batteries in their SureFires. They remove them way before they are dead, so as to maintain maximum brightness. Wouldn't it be nice to know that whatever SureFire you are using, will be the same brightness from minute 1 to minute 58?

SureFire - Give me near "M" series brightness and quality in a rechargable. As a casual but frequent user, this would offer me a value in a light.

SureFire - Offer lights that compete (Size, runtime, price, bulb life) with the Streamligh SL-20X and SL-35X and UltraStinger, but with perfect beams.

Streamlight - Come out with a "perfectionist" series that competes with SureFire.

A way to tell battery life remaining at maximum beam strength for both products.

SureFire - LED's but with SureFire perfection (or is that currently called an ARC?)

If Streamlight started to compete directly with Surefire and vise versa, the end result would be better stuff for both of us!

Re: What new products would you like to see from SureFire (or Streamlight) in the future?

For me, Surefire is mostly doing the right things at this point. They're looking at LED lights, they're looking at regulation, and most importantly, they are looking at extending the capabilities of lights with near-E2 form factor. The A2 is kind of the sum of it all: LEDs plus incandescent, both regulated, more E2ish than M2ish.

In short, they're doing exactly what I wish they would!

I'm not a fan of rechargeables, but if I were, I'd say Surefire's line is a mess. I'm also less interested in lights that cost hundreds of dollars, so fancy M6 HIDs and things like that don't interest me either.

or any manufacturer; an affordable white 5 watt luxeon that can be focused and have an adjustable power input(or output if you want to consider it that way.)

Re: What new products would you like to see from SureFire (or Streamlight) in the future?

I would love to see an affordable and well designed 5 watt Luxeon LED light with a decent run time and a good medium throw beam kinda like the E2e has. Oh, and dimmable flat regulation would be nice too. SF`s L1 is a step towards this- and since the 5 watt LED is an unproven (in flashlights) newcomer with a very demanding set of operating requirements (most importantly cooling), I don`t think the time is right to introduce any 5 watt Luxeon lights just yet. Give it a year or so however....

I would also love to see something along the lines of the prototype SureFire M6-HID. A light using a miniature halide lamp like the Light Cannon, but a lot smaller and lighter. Fast run-up would be a bonus.

But I have to agree, SureFire`s new stuff is along the right lines, if we ever get to see any of it that is

. The A2 looks like the perfect Daily Carry light, and the KL series LED heads will introduce bright, flat-regulated, solid state lighting to a new market.

As far as Streamlight, well they seem to be onto a winner with their new 7 LED model (I forget the part number right now). And they seem to be doing OK with their incandescents, so for them I say just keep up the good work. Maybe try to make`em a bit smaller, but if that means price hikes, leave them as-is. Goodness knows how many thousands of cops can`t all be wrong

Re: What new products would you like to see from SureFire (or Streamlight) in the future?

I'd like to see Surefire make their lights so that they can each be easily used with either 123A's OR a rechargeable battery pack, without major modifications to the lights. So, run my M3 for an hour on 123A's, or slip in the rechargeable pack and run it for 30 minutes on that.

Or with my M6, which with it's cartridge-style battery holder (which just BEGS for a rechargeable pack), slip in the recharge pack and get 10-15 minutes of high-power light.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">A streamlight with a one watt, and one with a five watt luxeon. That uses standard aa, c, or d batteries. Good flashlights that are cheap to run.

Re: What new products would you like to see from SureFire (or Streamlight) in the future?

Sure Fire - M6 HID; 5W LS on E2e
Streamlight - 3/7 LED switchable in Cyclone case; 3AA x 3 in SL20 body with brighter lamp.

Both for Sure Fire and Streamlight - dump all those 1800ma sub C and get 3000ma and brighter lamp on their rechargeable lines.

What new products would I like to see from SureFire?
Wouldn't that be telling?!

I did want an M1000.

I now want a compact, light-weight, shock isolated, TurboHeaded (intense, thin long-range beams) rechargeable SureFire.
I want it to be Digitally Regulated.
I want it to have ~250Lu - ~500Lu output from a two-stage TailCap pressure switch.
I want it to use a LiIon-type battery body with a runtime indicator build in.
I want it be produce day-light colour temperature beams. Be instant-on/off.
I need it to be released with several carry options.

I care not whether tis bulb/HID/LED, but it must be resistant to physical shocks.

The M3TD and M3-HID proto-types powered by LiIons came about as close as I've seen so far.

I've got be able to carry it on me.
The M6-HID is too bulky and heavy for non-specific carry.

There it is...

Re: What new products would you like to see from SureFire (or Streamlight) in the future?

Sirefire:

-COMPACT M3 (M6 cutoff)
-A2 with 2 White 1 Red LED
-Anylight 6v with 4 123As in paralell (arranged like the M6) either 4 or 6 batteries, regulated? with adjustable output for high runtime or high power or in between on a multimode tailcap.
-Ultra super duper high power M12!! 4x3 paralell configuration

Streamlight:
-Some serious tactical lights with Surefire quality and Streamlight value.
-3C Propolymer with LED drop in module. more than 10 LEDs.
-Low cost light with lotsa LEDS. Like 4AA Propolymer.
-Syclone 2 like the A2, maybe 1 amber 2 white LEDs.
-Regulated Septor or competitor for the Photon Fusion

From either company:

-A rechargeable as described by Al
-Big *** LED regulated light (C or D) with at least 19 LEDs like the TekTite 1900, BUT, 2 red, 2 green, (2 infrared?). Switchable from 1 or some or all LEDs on white, nightvision green, or red, or strobe on red. Hopefully get 20+ hrs on full brightness.

Re: What new products would you like to see from SureFire (or Streamlight) in the future?

surefire-more nitrolon versions of everything for more affordable prices.

streamlight-i'd like a light between the sl20 and stinger. improve beam quality.
