By slim I mean 25.4 mm or less diameter. Lights such as the Thrunite TN12 for example. The TN12 does 6500 lux. Anything better than that out there?
Any size batteries. Prefer XML LED, but XPG is OK if it throws a lot better than the TN12.

Can you narrow down to:
(1) XP-G or XM-L emitter?
(2) 16340/18350 size battery, or 18650 size battery?

Any rechargeable battery size, 18650, 16340, 2x 16340. Prefer XML but XPG is OK if the throw is substantially higher than the TN12. I've looked for some XPG's and the most throw I found was 7000 lux. An extra 500 lux is not worth the greatly reduced Lumen output compared to the TN12's 705 OTF.

With a 1 inch diameter bezel and XM-L emitter, I think the Thrunite TN12 has the greatest throw....

That's what I'm afraid of 🙁 I'm a bit under-whelmed by the throw, looking to see if somethings better. Can't complain though. It's more throw than my 1100 Lumen Triple P60. That makes around 900 OTF and throw is around 5500 lux. The TN12 at 705/6500 seems to be a nice replacement for it, in a much smaller package. Plus it looks like the TN12 will take a Surefire Z2 grip ring after removal of the clip.

Apart from the emitter, throw is heavily dependent on reflector diameter and to a lesser extent - depth.
So with a 1 inch bezel, there's not much more throw out there in that size unfortunately...

The DEFT edc-Enthusiast will throw 86,000 lux 😱oo: ... although it is a bit bigger than the size you list above (at 34mm max - but the tube is 25mm though) 🙂

For throw in a small size, you'll want something with a high surface brightness, so a well driven or overdriven XP-E could work. The Jetbeam RRT-0 with the XP-G could work. The Fenix E25 is also supposed to throw decently.

I just got an E25. Nice white beam, not super high output but excellent tight focus hotspot. Very narrow beam that throws surprisingly far for a 187 lm light. Fenix claims 156 meters. 2AA and about 1" in diameter at the head. So far, I like it.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Of all the suggested lights the best was 6900 lux. Not much more than the TN12's 6500, but half the lumens of the TN12. So I'll just stick with the TN12 for now.

The newer Eagletac D25LC2 XP-G2 is suppose to be 8,500 Lux, but with less output. I think sticking with you TN12 is a good choice.

The head is a little bigger than you want, but the Sunwayman T20CS will do 19k lux, in a relatively small package. Its considered one of the best small throwers.

yup, one of the better throwers, the Crelant V9-T6 of identical size does 22-24k lux @ less than half the price of the T20CS.

Slightly smaller than the T20CS and V9-T6 is the Armytek Predator XP-G2, mine an incredible 30k Lux and beats my Xeno G42 U2 which is 22k Lux.

This is based on lights with a larger than 25.4 mm bezel. Smaller bezel size than 25.4mm. Then the new Eagletac D25LC2 XP-G2 is a contender at 8,500Lux.

What's the application?

Is that a barrel diameter limit to weapon mount it, or a lens limitation imposed for a particular issue?

Arch typically, a pocket light is better off with flood than throw for most applications. I sometimes need a concentrated beam in tight quarters for inspection purposes, and the pocket sized DEFT EDC+ kicks *** for that, with ~ 10x the lux of the one's you're considering instead.

The smooth contours of the DEFT make it a great pocket light if that's your concern, and after that, its just a question of application, and your performance criteria to meet it.

Really just a matter of how easy it is to carry. Thats why I said 25.4mm. Thats the size of the TN12. I already have bigger throwers. My Lumapower D-mini's are modded up to 28,000 lux, but the diameter is 1.3 inches (33mm). Doesn't sound like much, but a big difference in pocket-ability.

Sounds quite high. Selfbuilt got 16,750 lux. Add 7% more for -G2 and your still only getting 18,000 lux. Even an over driven (1.4 Amp) XRE-R2 in a 37mm light will not do 30K Lux. An XPG would have to be pumping 700+ lumens to equal an XRE (at 1.4A) in surface brightness.

I kept my other Armytek Predator and it is 17k Lux. I borrowed the idea from another CPF member. He managed 27k Lux.
