I think it was this Brinkmann 3 watt LED that ran on two D cells.
I converted it with the help of @Lynx_Arc to run on an 18650.

here is the discussion of how to modify it

I started off all high tech and fancy. Cut down Minimag with a DJ Park/ CG Peanut POP3 sandwich, running on a 14500.

The menu options on the sandwich are about as extensive as an LF2XT. Great little unit. Still have it, but it doesn't see much use these days since it has a Lux III emitter. I love it anyway, and has such a lovely white tint.

I misread the title. First LED was probably one of those INOVA lights that had about 5 LEDS in it.

My first LED flashlight was a Peak LED Solutions Matterhorn "Hi" power (AAA) with a brass keyring body and "snow" white 5mm LED. I guess that was about 20 years ago. I wish I still had it but unfortunately I lost it a couple of years later, starting my journey into Luxeons and beyond.

Today I carry that light's progeny in the form of a Peak Eiger #4 power with a stainless lug body and Nichia 219b SW40 R9080. LEDs have come a long way.

For me, an early Surefire L1. Very purple beam tint, though, which means it doesn't get a lot of use now.

I think it was 2AAA or 2AA light... from Sears. single 5mm LED and that was like $6.99 back in early 2000s

One of those 7 LED 3xAAA affairs that was slightly less shitty than the common ones now. Holder was still junk though. Mine was grey with hex sides on the head and tail, circa 2003.

Tint was best described as screaming blurple.
