What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

Petzl Aria 1 350 lm. I hoped that there would at least be stabilized light, but it was not there. Level 1 has visible PWM. There is a hole for gas outlet at the back, as practice has shown, when immersed in water, water comes through this hole, not immediately, but after some time. I will have to look for an old version of the Petzl Tikka XP2 + Core, which had a truly stabilized mode. The current discharge schedule is quite consistent with what they draw on the website. The numbers on the graph are relative lux, since the distance is not exactly 1 meter and the beam is not exactly in the center of the sensor, and the cheap sensor is unlikely to have laboratory accuracy. When replacing batteries it is very easy to not close it completely. The diode is very similar to Osram

Also, old flashlights have a more convenient beam shape. With a new one, you have to constantly change its position from what is convenient to move with to what is more convenient to do something with your hands. Here in the old lamp the LEDs have been changed to a warmer light temperature, they were originally as cold as on the new one

Coast XP40R.
Coast's website refused to honor a coupon code that would have saved me $20 when I was trying to order a similar light. Initially went through, but all of a sudden was removed on the next page. Yeah, screw that! Accidentally stumbled onto this brighter and $20 less expensive, but similar construction Coast model while looking through Home Depot's official website. So, I snagged it!

Do I believe it can actually outperform my JetBeam M64 model rated at 6800 lumens, when this Coast is rated at 8000 lumens, and costing less than half the price of my M64? Highly doubt it! But it'll be fun testing out these two side-by-side.

Surefire EDC2-DFT and EDC1 DFT Turbo Handhelds.

Got both about a month ago.

Wanted to scratch the itch for a while, because after the long year or two delay they finally came out some time ago and everybody seemed to be raving about them.

I finally got around to picking them up, and I honestly have been enjoying playing around with them.

Don't see them kicking my modlite or HDS out of my pocket for EDC anytime soon.

But certainly, enjoy having them in my collection, and when I need a pocketable thrower, they are my go-to choice.

I went further and decided to look at older versions released before 2019. Since after 2019 they changed their drivers and stopped making those that named "constant lighting". I think this is related to the promotion of their proprietary Core battery. After 2019, flashlights with regular batteries again show a smooth decrease in brightness, as shown above in the Aria-1 graph. With the Core battery, some kind of stabilization may be enabled, but I can't say for sure, since I don't have it yet

Here is Tikkka+ until 2019. There is no PWM at any level on all colors (white and red diode), at least not visible to my eyes. Inserted 3 batteries Enelup Lite 550 mAh. Tested at the brightest level of 110 lm

Almost matches what the graph on their packaging shows. If put it in an IP68 case and give it the ability to connect an external unit with 18650 while maintaining the ability to use 3*AAA, it would be an very good tourist flashlight in my opinion. It's sad they discontinued it, but they still pop up on the secondary market ~15-30$ and sit unsold in some tourist stores. As I see it, unlike modern flashlights, which are fixed on sealed plastic rods, screws are also used here, so it is easy to disassemble and insert a diode with high CRI. The secondary red has a smooth round spot, the brightness is about the same as the weakest mode of the main white light, good for walking on a path, but in a tent at night it will blind you just as much as white light. The primary beam is butterfly shaped, there are no strong color distortions, it is quite convenient for most tasks, although I would like a wider hotspot

An S21E in red with a B35AM 3000K.

Because:
• I want an S21E that locks out unlike the MAO one
• I can't afford a Fireflylite
• The B35AM is an LED I've never tried and I'm curious
• I want a side switch torch in a warm color temperature for nostalgia's sake (all 3 I currently own are 5000K)
• My yearly salary bonus only comes once a year and I don't know how China shipping will be in the near future given the current geopolitical climate, so buying it while I can

But the real reason, we all know what it is... just one more!

Just purchased 4 different Maglite LED Solitaires.
(No, not to give them away. But I likely will with a couple of them.)
And an Olight i3T EOS single-AAA LED Stars & Stripes model off eBay.
So far the very last flashlight I've purchased.
Might stay that way for quite awhile. We'll see. I make no promises!
(Yes I will reveal soon why I bought 4 of them. Stay tuned Sports fans.) 😉

Sofirn LT1S. Aliex Flash deal for $21 and change. Delivered to my door 9 days after ordering. Buck driver, adjustable tint, red light modes and directional dimming. Easy UI, well constructed and came with a 5000 mAh Sofirn cell. These are excellent small profile lanterns with glass diffuser and USB C charging and power bank capability. It's my second one, and a ridiculous deal for the quality. Yes, I know it's Chyna made, but Sofirn has dropped some excellent products, many of which were developed with significant input from the flashlight communities. I have several Sofirn models, but this one stands out as one of the best and most utilitarian.

Welp, I just ordered a 3rd Fenix TK30 LEP.
I looked at the Maxtoch Owleyes and thought "that's pu**y numbers; it's only a dual-head. I want a triple-head LEP!"

Got two TK30's duct taped together nicely already (on loan to a thrower friend right now). Can't wait to add the third. ❤️

You just made me think of a new and improved Fenix TK45, wired for LEP.

Well, that didn't last long. Bought another one.
Streamlight Stylus Reach LED flashlight.
(The shorter length version.)
Realized I don't have a single flexible head LED light.
(Also, a Coast HX4 LED clip-light. But I'm getting that one for free for having ordered a Ruike Criterion Collection L51 Swiss Army knife based multi-tool.)

...I just ordered a 4th Fenix TK30. Because quad-LEP.
"Four-eyes" is usually a derogatory word, but in this case it will be something quite unique. ^^

All 4 lights has been display units, or returns, so the price has been like 60 % off retail for all of them.

I bought myself and my son a Arkfeld pro olight at the Blade Show. Got a good deal at 75.00 each. Fairly impressed with it. Like the combo of the laser and uv. The uv is very good on it.
