I picked up a BTF Lighting WS2812b for testing for some of the effects I'm working on for an upcoming event.

It's an addressable LED RGB strip. Surprisingly it makes some decent whites, even warm whites, despite not having dedicated white LEDs. Also much brighter than I was expecting.

No idea what you're describing, but it sounds good! ... 👍 👍

I just got an Eagtac D25AAA with a 5700K 519A today.

The pocket clip is pretty nice too and has a decent magnet in the tailcap, but I suspect the tail might be glued, not that that bothers memd.
Quick question for you - can you please tell me if the magnet be removed? The rest of the light looks great, but a magnet is a no-go for my use. I am ready to pull the trigger if I can pull out the magnet.

I just removed the tailcap and the spring, the magnet did not readily come out. No idea if it's glued or friction fit and since I want the magnet, I'm not going to see if applying heat gets it out. The clip made it a pain to thread the tailcap back on.

It's okay... I'm just learning about this myself and just discovered these last week.

These LED strips are just a bunch of LEDs mounted on a flexible circuit board and come with adhesive on the back. In this case, RGB LEDs. Others, including CCT White LEDs are out there. However, the neat party trick here is that every single LED is individually controllable (addressable).

What makes these interesting is that they're dirt cheap. For example: This LED strip is $3.20 and is decent quality https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251801850504415.html

There's an open source project called WLED, which uses cheap ESP32 RISC microcontrollers, which often have Bluetooth and WiFi built in. We're talking $5, fully assembled: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808431847809.html

You can use this for something relatively simple like simulating rocket flames:

To signs:

To walls:

To ceilings:

To entire stores:

and if someone just wants a plug-and-play, there are plenty of pre-built controllers, with software already installed out there.
This one doesn't even require true power supply, entirely USB-C powered: https://www.amazon.com/MagWLED-1-Controller-USB-C-Delivery-Pre-Installed/dp/B0CYKYDH64/

If you have a 5vDC or 12vDC power supply, there's plenty of other pre-build WLED controllers on Amazon and elsewhere.

Very Cool! Thanks! ... 👍👍

Bought a 3 pack of Ozark Trail lights to use as a work light as my Duracell 350 is down due to the plastic battery housing broke off at the top that holds a battery connection. Maybe some hot glue will fix that? Anyway waiting to get some 2AA Rayovac Indestructibles so I hopefully won't have anymore lights quit on me.

Edit: found some of those Rayovac lights, on order along with a Coast 4AA lantern because why not 😅

Yesterday my latest Maglite order arrived. Jeez, it takes a whole week to get here from Ontario, CA with the free shipping! That is too long a wait for a flashaholic!

Maglite needs to expedite their free shipping for forum members, otherwise, it is cruel and unusual punishment!

Got a ML100 2C, and a silver ML25LT 2C, and a whole bunch of accessories. Have a cart full of things, but the XYL said not to buy any more flashlights...hmmm. What to do? Just buy more accessories? 😉:grin2:

I may order him a D3AA w a copper button:
How would you consider the durability of the looks of a copper button? I know it doesn't rust as such, but that green patina is a not a look i personally like.

For me, it's stainless steel or titanium any day over copper for the things I would have to touch. A copper bezel would be fine for the design (depending on the intended use, as copper is a rather soft metal), but for the button, I find rubber to be fine.

I got an all-copper D4K, but that lives in a glass jar as my "only" collector's light. Auxiliary lights are on, and I wear white fabric gloves when I take it out to swap the battery (no, I do NOT do that with any other of my lights ^^).

My guy, when I still bought stuff from the US (and the exchange rate wasn't printed murder), the packages took 4 weeks from Texas, via Paris, to my mail box.
Not bad, some may say (if anyone does say that, I call them liars) - yeah, except it took 2 weeks from Texas to the local customs office, and then 2 weeks shipping domestically!:xyxgun:

I see there are green copper roofs in your country.. none of that where I live.. I never see green patina on my copper lights here..
it just turns a dark brown if not in use, but is easily repolished, and mostly stays shiny if actually handled

have not received the copper button to test yet.. package is stuck in USA Customs for the last 12 days

Simple. I don't want any skin oils getting on the pristine copper. 🙂

I can't speak for copper roofs (honestly, I didn't know that was a thing here), but we do have some copper piping in the house, and that does NOT look very nice.
I was looking at copper gutters though...but stopped when I saw a single length (4 meters / 13 feet) would be equivalent of 1100 USD. And we would need 9 lengths to cover the house on both sides. They did offer 10 extra years of warranty over the steel ones (20 -> 30 years) though. But we went with steel ones in white, at 45 USD per length.

And polishing a flashlight is not a task I intend to ever do. Goodness, if I am ever asked that question from a friend. "So, what did you do last weekend?" - and if my answer had to be "not much, I was polishing the shaft", he would physically back away from me, and rightfully so.

Aluminium lights (as the vast majority is) are fine, and most of mine don't even see that much use honestly, but I am leaning heavily (literally) into titanium for EDC, simply for the fact that titanium (almost) doesn't care about what it is exposed to. Just something I find reassuring.
