After snowblowing today & clearing any slush from the rake & auger, I came to the decision that I'm getting some Rust Converter.
Snowblowers have such a hard life & mine needs a bit of tcl this spring..

Rust converters chemically change rust into a hard phosphate,, problem solver & PREP for sure!
Went w/ Xion Lab 2-in-1 Rust Converter & Metal Primer

Back in the day, I use to get gals of phosphoric acid to clean off surface rust from sheet metal. Scrubbing with 3m abrasive pads, it will leave a clean phosphate coat, prepping surface for when doing auto body work.The acid is also good for cleaning grout in bathroom walk in showers and such..
Boy, times have changed, $60 gal today.

What's nice about the rust converters, there's zero prep work ~ none.
no sanding, no wire brush, no dust/particulate cleanup from sanding, rusty surfaces can even be wet.

Bought a new gas-mask. (Polish MP5.)

I have two others already with several filters.
Newer designs, and better overall. But MP5 is for a future cosplay.
Thought about getting a prop mask but.... Why?
Except for guns, for obvious reasons, if you need a prop; better off getting the real thing unless the real thing is hideously expensive. Or, doesn't actually exist in the real world.

I read somewhere of a Comic-Con style convention years ago in which the main convention floor filled up with smoke. Everyone made it out safely. Good to know if that happens to me, I'll already be prepared. Grabbing people, pulling them out with me. Going back in for more people. For some odd reason, an image of me in costume, carrying out a young woman dressed as Princess Peach popped into my head. I finally got the girl. It's a me, NOT Mario!

I tried a Rustoleum rust converter on the fenders of my Crown Vic years ago. I didn't coat both sides of the fender, maybe that was necessary, but it didn't stop the rot.

Deep rust, blasting inside out is best. I've seen spot blasters, so parts removal is not always necessary. Although afterwards, sometimes you'll end up with a fender that looks like Swiss cheese.

Poppy, is your Crown Vic undercoated?

I have seen road salt damage in older cars from East. Wheel wells, doors, rocker panels, they don't last long.

I didn't have it undercoated, so it only had whatever protection that it came with from the factory. I think it was about 15 years old when the paint on the lip of the wheel wells started to bubble up. She was never garaged, and lived her whole life in the salt belt of the NE winters.

That car didn't owe me a nickel. At 260,000 miles I was rear-ended and that put an end to her long life of 19 years.

Ordered a new Biolite stove to replace my old first generation one that has a dead battery. With the price of fuel these days and risks of power outages everywhere, it seemed like the right time to upgrade to the newer model. It’s nice to be able to cook a month on a $6 40 lb. sack of wood pellets while everyone else is emptying their wallets buying propane, butane, and Coleman fuel. Plus being able to charge my lights with the power produced by the thermoelectric generator.

I am trying to stay in shape. I ride my exercise bike 30 minutes every morning, go on a 45 minute walk every afternoon, and lift weights twice a week. I started a version of the Keto diet a couple years ago. I weighed 203 lbs at that time. I am now at 167 lbs.

This morning I had to move my daughter's car. It was 2 degrees F. and the battery struggled to crank the engine. Fortunately it started right away. When I heard it go ... rhuu... rhuu... rhuu, I thought that it might need a jump start. Right away, I thought of this Li Ion jump starter I have.

I have two of them. One is supposed to be in my daughter's car, she doesn't know if it is. So tonight, I checked the one I have in my bedroom, to see if it needs a charge. Nope it is at 100%.

I brought it out to my daughter, to remind her that she should have one in her car and that there are instructions on how to use it.

We probably won't see Such a low temp again, this year, and her car should start. I just wanted to prep her.

I already had one, but it is just so temperature flexible, and comfortable, that I had to get another. The last time I used one, I found that I couldn't keep my air mattress under me, I kept sliding off. So I decided to put it inside the gortex bivy, between it, and the patrol bag. That worked out great!

Today, I prepared for night vision driving.

Although the lenses on my Grand Marquis headlights were not as bad as some of the cars I see driving around, and the angle of this picture made it look worse than it actually is, I decided to swap them each out with a new lens. This will significantly improve my night driving vision.

@SamKormak Yes, it was a steal!
Actually, what is pictured is the five piece set that includes three bags, a stuff/compression sack, and a smaller compression sack (for lighter travel if you are not bringing all three bags). I didn't get the smaller sack.

I found it on Craigslist, and picked it up locally. My first set I paid $100 for, and at that price, it was also a steal. I found that one on craigslist as well.

The eneloops in my emergency kit will be 10 years old soon. I purchased these back in 2013. Capacity is showing around 1650-1700 for the set. Less than 30 cycles on them.

Keep or Repurpose?

Can i trust these during an emergency?

Should i go ahead and replace them just to be on the safe side?

Today I purchased an adapter that allows me to recharge my li-ion and NiMH cells directly from a 12V battery. After the world goes to hell in a handbasket commercial power will probably be lost, but there will still be literally millions of car batteries with charge remaining, at least for a year or two. The adapter consists of a set of small battery clamps connected to a small 12v to 5V converter. The whole setup weighs five ounces, and fits inside a small zippered cosmetics travel case. Peace of mind for under US$25.

When I was a kid we did little excersizes at school each day like arm circles and way-backs etc. What a waste of time we thought.
Today's prep was arm circles and way backs etc so I can bend over and tie my shoes without pulling a back muscle. lol.

Bought a set of earplugs. I will wear it in the city, especially in transport, as the hearing seems to be spoiled by the noise of the city. Mosquitoes recently woke up, one apparently flew near me, but I didn't hear his squeak and didn't notice him until he started sucking blood

Good idea. I've noticed from driving with a window cracked (left hand drive vehicle) the wind noise has reduced the hearing in my left ear enough where I have to hold my watch up to my left ear to hear it ticking but can hear it ticking from 3 feet away with my right ear. If it's on my dresser and I'm sitting on my bed 3 feet away putting socks on to the right of it (facing it) I don't hear it. Sitting to the left of it (facing it) I can hear it from my bed as I put my socks on.

Stealth flyers!
If they sounded like crickets, there would be far fewer of them!

This is the style that I use and like.
I greatly prefer them over the cheaper foam style.
