What was your prep for today?

Bought a Caterpillar lithium power station for $65 from the San Marcos, CA Costco. Has 1750 amp rated jumper cables, a 120 p.s.i. air compressor, a 200 watt modified sine wave a/c outlet, a 30 watt type C USB two way PD outlet, a 15 watt usb-a outlet, and an l.e.d. light. Just wish it had a 12 volt DC outlet and a 120 volt to usb-c PD plug. Only comes with USB a and c cords to charge it. Still, $65 is half price. If you see these at Costco at this price get them before they're gone.

Each time it snows where I live the city tosses sand on my street. Traffic kicks the sand over to the curb. I shovel said sand into a bucket and use it as a traction aid on steps and porches that become slippery. When it thaws i sweep the sand up and toss it on the lawn to aid in water percolation the following summer. The city uses a masonry sand that's made up of larger particles than the sand in bags at lowes depot.

No concern about any residual salt in the sand. There wasn't much to start with. The lawn is a hardy Bermuda.

The best sand for that purpose is the kind used in sand bags. So if you ever see a used sand bag somewhere no longer in use grab it and use the sand from it after it snows. Just be prepared to vacuum your floors since you'll likely track it into your home.

I don't remember if I posted it, but I got Starlink as a tertiary ISP. Primary is AT&T Fiber, secondary is Verizon 5G Home and then I keep Starlink with the plan paused. I had bolted it to the service entrance weatherhead mast temporally when I got it which worked well, but I wanted to put it on the roof much lower down. So I put it on the other side of the garage. I think this went well, any roof experts please roast me! I want your opinion

For the mount, I pre-drilled holes in the roof and pumped them full of wet patch, then added a layer of Bishop tape across the entire underside of the mount with flaps to overlap the head of the 5/8 lags. Also added some roof patch around the tops of the mount where water will run first

For the cable, I drilled a hole, put the cable through, filled the hole with wet patch and then covered the entire area with bishop tape with the cable facing down. Then, got the ABS cable gland and did the same with bishop tape as the mount, covered the underside and left enough for a flap over the top of the screws. I added a thin layer of roofing cement to the underside too. Screwed it onto the roof, and went around the edges with roofing cement. Went overboard? Not overboard enough?

Getting ready to charge up lithium rechargeables batteries.
Do it all in one day, easier to remember when they need to be charged up again.
