Definitely a "timeless" classic! My answer was to get a W-96H and an W-800H, who's modules can be solder bridged to enable the countdown timer. One problem: when you do this on the W-96H, the outlines and words for SNZ, ALM and SIG go away. But it makes for a clean look, you just have to remember what the little blocks stand for if you use those 3 functions. On the W-800H, the 3 words are printed and won't go away. It is possible that Casio may change this over the years and this hack may no longer work. I found the info on the watchyouseek forum. The f-91w has won out over many different models of G Shocks and various analog watches. Edit- if they added a countdown timer and had it show the time in other modes like the dw5600, I would love it even more.
As a bonus, these models have better water resistance and are only a few bucks more than the F-91W. My main beef is that the plastic bands always start disintegrating after about 10 years, turning sticky and cracking. By then, a replacement band is way more than a new watch, making these essentially disposable. That's why I refuse to spend much money on a digital plastic band watch, but I like having them in usage rotation when I need timers or might have rough treatment.
