What watch you're wearing?

Unfortunately, basic 5711 from Patek is (for lack of a better term) Standard Issue on the wrist of every teenaged kid born not with a silver spoon in their mouth, but the whole frickin' silverware set. The problem with trends is, they come and go. It's a gorgeous watch, it's a Patek. Most Pateks are like fine jewelry. Meaning fragile as hell. That one is robust. But with all the kids out there wearing it, just a turn-off for some collectors.

I've already looked down at my empty wrist about 20 times today. 😐
Get you a back-up watch. Keep it in the vehicle. Preferably an inexpensive mechanical. Quartz battery back-up watches will have dead batteries inside when you need them.

I don't post on here, but have been in the flashlight scene for many years. I saw this thread and thought I would post my new jazz master Hamilton

Trying a bracelet on an Orient Bambino.
Improper end links made it a bust but it was an intriguing idea I may want to pursue later.

Found this one at 21mm from Shensing China.
Has both curved and straight end links. It'll turn the Bambino into another "Bling" watch with its shiney polished links against a shiney polished case.

Yes love the bracelet. Does that style have a name?
Correction from my previous post (#3125). It's called a pin link. Some early King Seiko had 3 row versions meaning 3 wide/ 2 wide/ 3 wide in a series. Numerous Lordmatic watches had a 6 wide like it being 6 wide/ 5 wide/ 6 wide in series. I stumbled onto that information today that was about the ones on King Seiko being pretty rare but plentiful on the Lordmatic. At one point (75/76) the Lordmatic was the only mechanical watch Seiko made. They were all in on quartz at that time.

So the Lordmatics were made in some instances with King Seiko style cases and the 5206 movements. The rest (like the one I showed) were premuim watches but using 5606 movement and Seikomatic style cases.

The 5206 did not suffer from the quick adjust cog breaking like the 5606 did, which was "designed" to hold up better due to being a flexible plastic versus the metal cog in the 5206. But the plastic cog in most cases broke if the wearer adjusted the day/date when the watch was set between 9 and 3. Hence the lore "set the watch to 6:30 before adjusting the day/date" still being said to this day.

Very smart. It looks like you have a collection of bracelets to go with your collection of watches.
I have a jubilee style on order for one of my watches that I hope will look better than the current brushed / polished finish.

As a matter of interest, do you adjust your bracelets for size for the winter weather? (due to wrist shrinking / swelling with the seasons)

fixer,
Do you remember what watch you wore to your former wife's funeral? I was thinking more people would speak about different styles of watches for different occasions.
Personally KB, I revel in the fact that mine's only removed for showers, and I don't have to consider where I'm going today or what I'll be doing - but I still get a kick out the photos / comments from the real 'watch aficionados'. It's a glimpse into another world for me, not unlike this whole site at times (I 'collect' nothing - except dust;-)
EDIT: one typo

Uh, I think they prefer to be thought of as Timepiece aficionados. :)

But of course, dahling!

Thanks for directing my eyes back to the screen where the glaring typo in my post just popped out instantly, and for your not making sport of it since you know I'm already filthy with myself about it:) Gotta be one to spell it right I guess. Wait, let me grab a photo of my latest Richard Mille (I got one just like Lando Norris wears!!!!:)

If I recall correct it was a 41mm Orient Bambino with a black dial on a stingray skin band. I think it was because it's a dressy bessy looking watch on an exotic band.

At functions like funerals tastes can vary. Some go all out with a big ole expensive wrist watch to go with a swanky outfit. My black Bambino is a bit of a spoof on that. If I were serious, like attending a funeral for sibling or a person I have a lot of respect for the original black leather band will be attached.

Many of the bracelet watches I own were acquired this year for summer wear and will likely go to the side while I wear more leather band watches in cooler weather.

I do have two Citizen bracelet watches that are tight in summer so they will be in the winter rotation.

Some of the bracelets have micro adjust option where you move the end inside of the clasp to reduce the length about 10 mm at a time. So I may use that option if they become way too loose.

My best friend is spell-check. Far be it from me to draw attention to another's misspelling.
