What watch you're wearing?

Please check your PM inbox.
I don't want anyone to accuse me of trying to get free advertising on CPF for my two channels. Even though I don't make a living off of them. 🙂
You may be doing yourself a disservice with that. You've been a member here for a long time, and no one would think that, and I'm sure people might benefit from your channels info. Your Weltool review was quite informative earlier

Thank you, I really appreciate that. And, you're likely right about the disservice part. Still, if any members want to get honest, reliable, gear reviews my PMs are open to all members. I'll happily provide my channel name to those genuinely interested. 🙂

On this day one year ago Mrs Fixer gave me this Timex X Peanuts limited edition "gang's all here" watch. It's a Phillipine made automatic with a Miyota movement.

Wore my daughter’s abandoned Apple Watch Series 3 today. Wanted to take the dog on a long walk and decided to track the mileage. 7.25 miles later and the 3 legged dog was still pulling. 🤦

A JDM snorkeler's or surfing watch.

Long ago surfers used to dive for their food before big money took over the sport. We're talking 1950's. They often lived in tiny huts and lived off the land for months at a time. The watch above is a throwback to that era in a modern day format. Back then though watch technology capable of being water tight beyond a few meters did not exist. Japanese youth culture loves some American surf culture and surf brands produce items to fill those desires.

It arrived with no strap but probably once had a signed rubbber or silicone strap.

1970's Waltham with a red W on a generic stretch band.
After a turbid period Waltham became Waltham of Chicago and imported watches exclusively. The red W was begun during that period, then a blue W. In 1981 the quartz watch was the final nail for the previous Waltham companies. The name was later acquired by a conglomoration who sold Chinese made watches with the Waltham name. But the Waltham was once a true American icon.

I believe it to be a 1970 because it says waterproof on the back and in 71 a law required it to say "resistant" instead of "proof".

After a few days of Apple Watch, I went back to G Shock. The F91-w has been sitting in my car waiting to save the day so I just decided to throw it on. The anti-Apple Watch.
Single most popular watch in the entire world. Cheap, highly functional and reliable, and available literally everywhere! (Yes I own one too.)

I've had a Skagen all-titanium in rotation for some time now (pun intended) and love it - and it was cheap. I had a little problem with the clasp, and broke off the nub. But I found a perfect Ti replacement clasp at Esslingers, also cheap. Right, nicely thin and light, and I can see it in low light with bad eyes.

I've had the stainless version of the Seiko Sportura Chronograph 100m since new, so it's about 20-25 years old.

I always like the look of the black bodied version and took the opportunity to buy the case in black and the leather strap as New Old Stock, both original Seiko parts in their original unopened packaging. I kept an eye on eBay until poor external, but working, example became available. Today I swapped the movement from the battered case to the new case and fitted the strap!
