A 3500k light from one of the major more budget oriented manufacturers (Thrunite maybe?) Running on a AA, AAA, or 18650 would be neat.
Other wants (besides obvious better efficiency, quality, etc.) would be more lights with the NW XPL, and Cree to release and manufacturers to use warm and NW XPL HIs.

As others here have mentioned, programable ui's a'la the bluetooth Quark Smart from 4sevens. There is so much potential there. Arguably, any ui you want with a button. Ramping, mode memory, disco only, momentary single mode only, the possibilities are mind boggling. I also want runtimes. And higher Mah batteries. And lastly, I have a few old Thrunite T10's stashed away. These were the only twisty I knew of WITH MODE MEMORY!!! I can't be the only one who thought that was better than peanut butter on a twisty light! More! Best twisty UI. Comes on wherever you want it to!!! :)

A few years back Panasonic decided to quit trying to get more pixels onto smaller sensors.
Instead they went backwards and improved the light gathering on less pixels and photos on portable cameras took on a better quality that rivaled the bigger SLR camera while those 2 big companies continued to dook it out in their lumen wars.
Soon after Samsung joined. So you get better photos while using less memory.
Win-win.

I'd like to see some of the more innovative companies turn in that direction regarding the light being put out of their flashlights like Mr. Malkoff did a few years ago. With everything being put out now his are still tough to beat.

Let the big boys continue to make 300 lumen keyfob lights or 1000 lumen 2aa lights...that stuff will always sell.

But for me, I'd like to see a pine tree look like a pine tree when I shine my light on it. 150 lumens or 650, 8975, or a million.... I don't care.
I don't care what the tint is, or the emitter batch....just put out lights that make a pine tree look like a pine tree.

And I look forward to anything Mr. Malkoff or Mr. Kim come out with.

Maybe Streamlight could do a C4.1 and back off on the harsh spot in their lights? Are you listening Streamlight?

I wouldn't mind seeing a great tactical AA either. Other than that, tint offerings and more accurate runtime/outputs would be nice.

^^ you guys realize an indestructable with a near depleted lithium and a new alkaline with light turned to high makes a mighty fine hand gernade, right?

Eh, just kidding.

But...PK built the Rogue, yet nobody liked it...so there ya have it.

Nuclear power flashlights.

...maybe not. Some lightweight rechargeable headlamps will do. I mean, like pc-built lightweight, but of damn good ruggedness.

I'm going to be a little more specific here. I would love to see a light with three or four XPL Hi emitters where each one is in its own DEEP reflector, two or three inches deep. I realize this would mean a larger head, but am willing to accept that. Along with the reflectors I would want some really good heatsinking to handle the emitters without having to throttle them after a few minutes. I assume it would take at least four good IMR cells to handle the current demands.

This wouldn't have to be a production light. A short specialty run for a group buy, or a one-off by one of our wizards would be acceptable. I just want to see what kind of throw one could get with a head designed from the word go for distance.

Some more offerings of compact 18650 compatible flashlights - I prefer in the 4 - 4.5" length range. : )

A new modular (high quality) flashlight series like Aleph or Longbow.

High CRI

After comparing a variety of Cree emitters against a pair of high-CRI Nichias, I am more interested than ever in high-CRI. Therefore, I would like a general-purpose flashlight with some of these features:

  • High-CRI Nichia 219B, perhaps the 5000K version found in the BLF 348
  • Triple- or quad-emitter
  • TIR or aspheric optics rather than reflector; more flood than throw
  • 1x26650 with battery check and low-voltage cutoff
  • At least four modes (five would be better), ranging between, say, 3 to 5 lumens at the low end and 1000 at the top
One way or another, a multi-emitter Nichia is on my buy list.
