What you'd like to see in new Fenix flashlights

Just for starters: I like Fenix lights for their fair price, good build, and clicky preset modes. But there are a few things I'd like to see in these lights. So I'm gonna start with my wish list. (If a similar thread exists, please let me know. I did not find one)

1. Twisty interface (like on the TA 30), which I will absolutely love!
2. No SOS mode.
3. Option of both forward and reverse clicky on all models
4. Continuing support of AA batteries
5. Stainless steel rings on the front and back of the light
6. Clips that are attachable to the larger flashlights (eg, LD20, TK series, etc)
7. Flashlights made from 7075 aluminum rather than 6061 (slightly better)

Easier to grip knurling with a uniform diameter throughout the battery tube's length (lke the Inova T1, T2).

Smaller diameter AA lights. Current models are too fat.

Good pocket clips.

A 2AAA penlight with a tailcap pushbutton and pocket clip. No SOS or strobe modes needed.

At least a lower low level, or better yet a programmable or continuously variable level.

Just what I was going to say when I say the thread title. Another manufacturer to compete with LiteFlux at a similar price level would be welcomed.

A quality switch that last longer.

I own a Fenix L2D which I bought less than a year and a half ago and which is my emergency light. I have it under my pillow and only use it in a real case of emergency. Some days ago when I really needed it, the switch failed and the flashlight didn't turn on. It was really disappointing that the most expensive flashlight I own, and supposed to be a better quality, didn't work when I really needed.

Switches can fail on any lights. I'd see if you can get it fixed under warranty. If not I think you can buy a switch mechanism cheap enough, or it might just be something you can fix yourself (eg: switch retaining ring may be loose).

If it's going to worry you in future you could buy one with a twisty. I'd still check and maintain it regularly if you're going to rely on it in an emergency, and have a backup handy.

Get rid of SOS but keep STROBE. A lower low and my P2D's low is just a little to bright for nighttime use. As far as knurling..... on some lights, I like the slickness of the lights when wearing dress attire.

easy to do:

1. good, designed and well thought after removable pocket clips. that can be easily changed to bezel up or bezel down carry.
2. programmability, from "is it on" to "whoa" output.
3. warm tints as options to ALL lights.

it would be nice to have 1aa E series light.
and similar the zoom head as in e20 to other lights too.

i agree with
SOS: very limited use. slow beacon (with different output options) would be much useful.
STrobe:i hate it most of the time. but if it has to be on the modes make it hard to get to by mistake (like all blink modes accessed by twisting head).
lower LoW would be nice.

*and see more ideas, ideas that demand more, at "flashlights i would like to see in production" thread of mine.

I could make a long list of nitpicky stuff i'd like to see changed, but if you give me a decent, sturdy clip, i'll carry my feinx's a LOT more...hey 7777, wanna make one just like your nitecore clips for the L1D?? hint hint.

I really like my L1T-V2, such a great simple design. I only wish its 15 Lumen low mode were more like ~3-5L. 15L is blinding with night adapted vision.

I am somewhat skeptical of EPROM programmable UIs and their general reliability... as compared to simple mechanical mode switch designs (But thats my own personal subjective bias and certainly NOT based on any kind of statistical data) But I agree a variable user selectable low would be GREAT.

Twisty CR2 light w/ good knurling, hi-lo modes only, use primary/li-ion cells with same outputs. Low should be between 20-30 lumens, and high should be whatever is reasonable (re: heat (can do a full burn) and runtime (an hour)).

A basic CR2 light that is super small, and intended for pocket carry. Keep it as short as possible. Two or three levels, twisty head and some nice knurling on the head and part of the body.

A new AAA light that is similar to what was done with the NiteCore EZ AA, except no funny stuff on the tail end.

I like the twisty CR2 idea. Something like the P1D but using CR2.
