What\'s inside Canon BP511
Hi there,
long time no see... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif But I'm back with a question. I remember some of you guys ripping apart certain types of lithium primaries to get cheap 123s (they were quite expensive back in the old days /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ). Well, I just recharged my BP511 pack which is used in a Canon DSLR and the shape and size made me curious:
[removed pictures]
See what I mean ? Voltage of those packs is 7.2V and mAh rating is 1,400 to 1,600 mAh. Since the one shown here is a genuine Canon accessory I won't dissect that one (they're expensive !) but I just ordered a couple of generics (about 8 USD each) and will give one of those a try. Hopefully I'll find four bare R123s inside...
So what do you think - good idea or not ? Any precautions I must take when opening the packs ?
Chris
