whats the best batteries to use for high spec leadlights? anyone tried different ones and found good and bad results.

I am also curious as to if the rechargeable nimh batteries are good to use. I plan on buying a extreme mx and was wondering if these rechargeables would work I have some rechargeable aaa's and there 2000mah- would these be good?

Another thing you might try is Panasonic's new Oxyride disposable batteries. Theyre the same cost as high end alkaline batteries such as duracell ultras but they last almost twice as long. They still fall short of the cost efficiency of recharchable though.

Under regulated conditions the battery means absolutely nothing. (barring trivial arguments about voltage/current drop and regulatory circuit design)

I am a fan of rechargables and beachfront property in Ohio. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I am using Sanyo 840mAh NiMH rechargeable for my Wicked Extreme which draws 450mA after mod. You can see from the chart for CNI 5mW below that the LP works fine for batt over 1.1V.

I am using some Energizer 850mah NiMH AAA's with my pot modded LedLight. They seem to work well.
I would consider green laser pointers "hight current" devices. As such a NiMH or NiCd battery should provide a better run time compared to normal batteries. I cannot prove this but it would make sense.

Being a normally clumsy cretin I have found that the sheer battery weight of most batteries is a problem as they often cause the contact spring on the circuit board to compress and STAY compressed should the laser accidentally get dropped and lob on its end (and, lets face it,who has NEVER dropped one?) After a while the laser often wont work if pointed upwards because the spring is now not long enough to ensure a good contact. I fixed mine by adding a faintly longer spring from and old red laser. The firmer contact alone made the beast brighter. To help further,I started using Eveready Lithiums. These batteries are extremely light and have infinitely less inertia if it gets dropped and although the batteries are expensive, they REALLY last for ages.

I've seen Arnold of AtlasNova suggest that batteries be removed when not in use for any length of time, so the battery spring doesn't lose its springyness. I suppose this is where the clamshell case comes in handy.

I stick crumpled up aluminum foil in the screw cap to avoid that spring problem

i find that lenmar makes the best quality rechargeable AAA batterys i can find, my personal favorite are the nickle metal hydrate 850mAh 1.2 volts and the alcaline manganese AAA batterys which are surprisingly 1.5 volts although they are rechargeable

rather, that should amplify the problem. Perhaps once your spring is weak, you should resort to that.
