What\'s the dot?

Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm wondering what the "dot" is that's on some of the SF led heads I've seen.

For e.g., I have an older KL1 kead and it has a white dot about 4-5 mm in dia (and appears to be a self adhesive sticker) stuck on the outer flange of the bezel.

I have also seen photos of other SF led heads with a similar (only green) dot.

I assume it's some kind of coding system, but can anyone explain the code to me?

I believe it's a code for the LED color. White = white LEDs, red = red LEDs.

Yep, it represents the color of the LED.

does SF put them on, the vendors, or the owners? I'm curious 'cuz I've only seen the dots at some retailers and not others.
