What\'s the latest verdict on the Lux-III SF Lamps?

In the past, I recall folks were happy with this Lux-III drop in for Surefires.

I ordered this today to give a try.

I was wondering if they have held up well so far with lots of use? Anyone experience problems with them? Are they heatsinked well, and generally well made?

This seems to be the best option, since it is the only way to get a reflector AND lux-III with decent runtime in a Surefire.

You could also consider a PR or PR-T or Aleph if the SF E series is acceptable. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I can show you reflector,Lux III, decent runtime and good thermal relief in a SureFire. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh, are you talking "classic" size only? Is an additional qualification that the host be entirely SF?

I'm pretty satisfied with mine. I suppose only time will tell. I have it in a G2Z, but it seems to do ok with the heat. Maybe someone has measured the temp that the module gets in a polymer light, that would be helpful. It is warm to the touch when I take it out after extended use, but it doesn't seem anywhere near dangerous levels of heat. But overall, I'm pleased with the output and beam, and I like that it runs well on a 168s. It's worth the money as far as I can see. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

At this point, I have so many 6Ps, 9Ps, Centurions etc. that do NOT have a decent LED drop in that my requirement is to be Surefire compatable. I'm just looking to have an LED drop-in for every incandescent SF I have, just so if I want to use LED with a 6P for example I can. I hate the current choices that use optics.

I'm generally not the type that is interested in custom stuff or sending my lights off to mod.

I hope one day an easy to install drop in will be available for the E-Series SFs too. The KL1 with its tunnelvission beam filled with artifacts is unacceptable.

I have using my drop-in in a G2 for awhile now with no heat issues. The light is bright and white. Another "feature" is that you get plently of light from batteries that will not even make a P60 glow
