What's the min requirement to fire up M3T, M4 and M6 LA with rechargeable?

2 x protected 18650 seems to work with M3T and M6 LA

will 2 x protected 17670 works with M3 and M6 LA?

the same goes for M3T, will 2 x protected 17500 works with M3T LA?

(i am assuming 2 x protected 18500 works with M3T LA as well)

I can give you a bit of insight.

Protected 17500 & 17670 cells will light both the low (MN-10/MN-15) and the high output (MN-11/MN-16) on a M3/M3T. The 17670 will need an extender to fit.

18650's are generally to big in diameter ( too thick ) to fit into M3/M4 bodies without boring out the body. I have not tried it just what I have read - I run 17xxx's

I am not sure but I do not think that any Lion cell can keep up with the M6 (MN-20 & MN-21) bulbs unless they are double stacked ( 4 cells total in series-parallel setup). Just two much current draw for one set alone - need to split the draw just like the M6 on primary cells.

thanks so much :)

what's the run time like for protected 17500/17670 used in M3 LOLA and HOLA?

so 2 18650 in serial probably not a good idea for M6 LA?

how about M4?

I have not done any run time tests but others have a search will tunr up the info but some ballpark numbers:

17500 LO ~40 min HO 15-20 min
17670 LO ~60 min HO ~30 min

I do not constant run mine so these #'s are from memory from what I have read around here.

The M4 is a 12V lamp there is not a proven Lion setup for it that I have found. The M3T bulbs work great in it with a pair of 17670. You will not get the 350 lumens of the M4 HO wit this setup on the 225 from the MN-16.

You could try a M6 bulb with a few sets of Lion's but I would suspect you may run into problem with the protection circuit of the cells. I would not mess with unprotected cells just to much risk of smoke or worse.

thanks for the info, very helpful :)

now i can set up my "system" accordingly .. :D

me too don't really want to mess with unprotected Li Ion, i just don't want to worry about "what if ... "
