What's this indentation on my 6P for?

That's the witness mark. The stock tailcap also has one, and the pair of them are used to switch between constant on, momentary or locked-out at a glance.

if you match up the one on your stock tailcap with the one on the body thats the "ideal" place for push button activation

That is the stock tailcap, but I think I understand now...

I guess I should have been more specific - this is a 6P Defender. So I'm guessing the standard 6PL or the incan 6P uses a twisty - this is just a forward clicky...

So the tube just has that for the twisty.

Spot on!

Because the clicky is always screwed on all the way unless in the lockout position!

I'll have to remember this - I hate twisties.

So this brings up another question - anyone know exactly which of the 6P series uses what?

Have there been different switches over different years?

There will be another 6P host (purchased used) in my future, so this would be good for me to know...

There are choices of Z41, Z49 and Z59 if you mean the different syled tailcaps

The standard 6P uses the Z41
The defender series use the Z59

They are the stock configurations, they are obviously interchangable

In this thread there are some pics of them
