The many power outages we get around here used to really unsettle the kids -- until I invented the game "Dark House". Now, once in a while, we turn off all the lights in the house and the kids get their PalLights and go hide. The monster (guess who) uses his Arc AAA to find and tickle them. They never get rattled in real power outages any more, and my oldest has begun to EDC!

I'm never home alone! Like cheesehead's and wmirag's, my kids have fun with the lights out and running around with their lights.

yes, to compare my lights for navigatability and to practise speed drawing/handling them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

No, I'm afraid of the dark!
That's why I need more and more lumens /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My lights are on a timer so when they go off it is time for bed, er, time to check for spiders! (that's my excuse because my wife has quite a fear of them)
It is simple entertainment. Most people enjoy watching the flickering lights of their television. I enjoy a perfect beam on the wall and occasionally finding a spider. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I prefer a darkened house at night. Gives me a place to play "midnight massacre" with my little cousins.

To "play" this game however the house must be pitch black and only 1 torch(flashlight) is available and placed somewhere in the house and once found is used to flash-kill /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I go outside and water the garden by torchlight.

And yes, inside I love to do without the lights and just use the LionHeart (or one of many others). It's great fun!

Sounds familiar,

We play "Monster Hide and Go Seek" where the kids, because they are smaller, get a Dorcy 2aa LED. Dad gets the biggest light he can find ('cuz he's big and hard to hide). Then when the little dorcy comes around the corner, the big Vector or whatever, comes on and scares the c-ap out of the dorcy holder, who then, after catching their breath, says "I want to do that again."

My four year old twin boys (/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif) consider a dark house and a couple of flashlights a full evenings entertainment. If I throw up an old tent & drag out some camping gear in the game room they're in hog heaven. lol.

Ack. Twin 4 year olds? Sounds like you better stay OUT of the dark areas.

Talk to my wife's cousin...... they just had triplets. With no fertility drugs either. That's like a billion to one odds.

Concerning the "posted" topic. I don't know what you are talking about. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Leeks -

I had heard about this a couple of years ago but didn't see it until last fall. Using an EL Tri-Star (3x3W in frean tri-len) I could spot boroughing spiders in a dark park easily at 60 ft +. Their little eyes shined back brightly. I would leave the TS shining at them and walk around and sneak up on them. There they would be next to there hole going, "How did you do that?" Mag74s and Mag85s would not do the same thing. Also the Tri-Star, though not nearly as bright as a Mag85, lit up spider webs very well. Some of the webs were 20 ft in radius with busy knitters in the middle.

Are you finding spiders by the glint of their eyes using LEDs?

The rest of you seem to be having a lot of fun with your kids. I liked reading about it.
