Hi All,

If my memory is correct the new Nichia 219C was announced over a year ago and I'm still not seeing any offerings available, anyone else see any lights available yet? Thanks

Considering the small amounts of offerings that we have to choose from with nichia A & B, this does not surprise me. It seems that the nichia flashlight is really a niche market.

"The LED is reported to be a 4000K Nichia 219C, 90+ CRI, a rare LED not yet seen on any production light (or anywhere really!). It compares well to my favourite LED, the 4000K Nichia 219B (90+CRI). The 219C is just a touch less pink, leaning more towards green/yellow, but it's VERY slight and is only seen when in direct comparison with the 219B."

I have two lights with 219c's. A custom Manker E14 and a custom Lumintop penlight. Both were customized by Vinh at Skylumen.

Vinh customized my 4/7s Atom 123 with a Nichia 219C last winter.

I love the pure mule beam of the Atoms, but the old cool-white XPG emitter prevented it from being a great mule, i.e. a bath of perfect light.

After Vinh put in the Nichia 219C, it's a great mule.

Up until recently, the 219C could do no better than 80+ CRI. Since the most common usage I have seen is as a High CRI (90+), the 219B was still the LED of choice. But now Mountain Electronics has switched their CUXM/CUXP drop in to the 219C emitter, and I am seeing it show up in other places too. My understanding is that the 219C is more efficient (more lumens per watt), which equates to brighter for the same current.

Your question raises the question, why are you looking? What is it about the Nichia 219C that makes you want a Nichia 219C flashlight? The answer might be obvious if you were searching for Nichia 219A or 219B, but Nichia 219C does not have the same high CRI and dreamy tints as 219A or 219B. Well, dreamy tint is debatable I guess. I'm just curious, why Nichia 219C instead of some random Cree?

Maybe looking for a decent CRI light, but a step up in brightness for the current.
I've been looking too, for 219C and XPG3. Not much of a CRI guy but I like the smaller dies.

Hello just like me,

I prefer Nichia over CREE, mostly due to the CRI & tint quality. Nichia has always done much better in this regard vs CREE. The 219C is the next sought after LED my eyes desire, the 219C is more efficient and a tad brighter but offers higher CRI over the 219A & 219B, I'm always looking for the next best thing and a collector of many lights.

Cool, have one of the sportac nichia set up in an LT2 stainless as back up, well i say back up, its been my every other day use this week. You know, break things up kind of thing in work.............

This is the seraph DHT with a nichia 219B triple(now at home in a c2 iirc.........yep i loose count and forget where they are till powered up!)

Off top of my head , i have 2 nichia sportac triples, 219B and xp-g2, latter was just to try out and its not bad tbh........4 mode nichia 219B triple, p60vnT 219C mule, couple of quads, one 5000k xp-g2 and another 5000k xpl HI. Then a malkoff 4000k m361n and an edc+ triple 4000k xp-g2(nice tint!) The xhp70 5000k is a nice option, wall of light! with no artifacts or anything. There are more but i forget.......Got a quad nichia 219C mule on the way, breaks up the 219B of which mine are 4000k/4500k ones. The 219C i find very nice, colours may not pop but look as they should, and makes a great work tool. Wall of soft light with no hot spot at all.

Back to the sportac, bang for nichia buck! hard to beat for $35 ish(i paid more but UK) , the 20% mode is perfect for my 160 ish lumen needs at work. Always a recommendation as a cheaper option to get onto the nichia side and require a floody type light.
