Where are Titanium batteries made?

Does anyone know where Titanium brand 123's are made? People's Republic of China, Japan, USA...? I bought a bunch of them recently and I am concerned about how safe they are because I cannot find on the cells where they are made. Do we have to worry about Titanium cells like we do with the Battery Station cells and any other cells not made in the USA. And while I am on the subject, how can such inferior and potentially dangerous cells like the ones we have heard about and been warned about be sold or bought/make it to market? Don't they care about safety, lawsuits, common sense...? It would be nice to know which cells we all can safely use. Are USA-made (more expensive) cells the only guarantee of safe cells to use?

I'm not sure where they are made, but I can tell you that all the Titanium AA's that I've used are good cells without any problems.

I doubt they are made in USA.

I think I heard they are made in Titania
I don't really know but I think they are rather bottom of the quality list IMO. There's probably no absolute guarantee that any cell will always be safe but from what I've seen here Duracell are probably engineered the best for safety.

safe is a relative term :) you still drive a car right? they kill about 38000 people a year not just fissle a bit and blow a flaming projectile sometimes :) they injure 6 MILLION people a year not 50-100.

if you calculated the number of cars used, vrses the number of deaths from them, and lithiums used and the number of deaths from them, the numbers would say that we should DAILY care more about the (average) 100 people dying in cars, than the number this year inconvienienced by a battery :)

america and the Lawsuit stuff has made manufactures extensivly carefull, and Media news and Stock MONEY and all that can be so easily disrupted.
if you make 60c an hour , who is gonna give a crud :)

its all about your own personal safety, your house and car values, disruptions to your existance, nobody need them, so if taking extra precautions immediatly fixes that, then no sweat off your back. lithium safety doesnt even require you to Walk to the store :)

I don't know where they're made, but I've gone through literally hundreds without incident. I've used them in everything from my X5s to M3 HOLA. I've frozen them, defrosted them, had them up to over 150°, kept them in my car for years...

People bring this up all of the time, including myself - search for it, but it seems that dramatic failures are very few and far between. The best advice, and something I always stick to, do not mix old and new batteries, and do not mix used batteries from different lights/uses. I always put two or three batteries in a light, and when the light dims or stops working, I discard all of the cells, and replace them with fresh ones. I take great care to keep new and old separate. If i've had batteries in storage for a year or more, I test them and sort them by voltage.

If you care to contact Amondotech and ask, you should post your findings here. It's probably not going to change my mind though.

PS. I also use their NiMH AA's almost exclusively, their 1800 high power, 2100 enduro, and 2700 cells are the best of their respective types I've used. They feel nice and solid, and seem to stand up to cycling better than the big brands like Energizer and Duracell.

I stopped using Titanium cells after they began bubbling when used in my Surefire M6's. The close-up pics are posted on one of the threads here.

IMO the Titanium 123's are absolute crap.

I personally recommend SureFire for CR123's. A buck 75 each isn't bad and they seem to have a very good track record.

BTW - BatteryJunction just bought AmondoTech. No titanium batteries to be found on the batteryjunction site (yet)

I just saw that! I hope they keep up their fast shipping to me. It's always been 2 days by mail.

Yep,

Just finished telling my company how much I liked Amondotech service. Placed an order for batteries and chargers, got it on Tuesday and then this today. We'll have to wait and see what MattK has to say :)

Socom1970 - Addressing your primary question, here is a link to a review of the Titanium 123s. http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/titanium_123a.htm Clearly the reviewer liked them as he gave this brand a solid recommendation. The website has closed (sadly) but links are still active.

I have used the Titanium brand for some time now and have not experienced problems. That said, there have been reports of problems with the Titanium 123s as well as the vendor. Personally I have had no problems with either. YMMV.

For what it's worth my three quote requests, from half a year ago to earlier this week, to amodotech were all totally ignored, wonder if it'll change with the new ownership.

Back to the topic, It would be very interesting if we compiled a list of all of the major batteries, the country of origin, the original cell manufacturer, and any other details someone might come up with/want.
