There are just so many to choose from, and I don't know which reflector design would work best for this application. Light will be purchased from DX.

honestly, DX lights are not the highest quality things.. especially if you're going mountain biking, and the light will be subjected to shock..

what would happen to you if the light suddenly went out while you were cycling downhill on a bumpy hill?

imo, it is better to go the slightly more expensive route now.. I regret buying random cheapo lights, and am slowly converting the collection to better things.

Can't really afford the higher quality route, I'm a student.

I'll be using a 18650 helmet light too (maybe a TR-801 ?), so if the bar-mounted light temporarily goes out, it won't be a big deal. I don't really push the limits or go exploring unfamiliar areas when I'm riding in the dark. :faint:

Nice work with the battery packs. I might wind up making a similar setup for extended night runs when it gets hotter in the summer.

At the moment, I only need single cell. It'll be a light I have on hand for evening rides if they unexpectedly last into the night (which occasionally happens).

how do you charge the 2sp5 lot?
The 2s2p is charged through the 9 pin sub-D receptacle with a modified 2 cell charger. Each slot of the charger is connected to a pair of 18650 cells (More info in this threadhttps://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/225285)

The 2s5p pack is not mine. Here they mention that the pack is charged through the 5 pin DIN connector on top of the pack. He uses the same (2 x 1 Amp) charger as I do, so charging will be slow

I just saw that P7-D bin lights are out.

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.22567
I'm particularly interested in this one, because it is the smallest of the 3 P7-D lights I see on DX.

Anything wrong with this, or would I be better off sticking to the smallest of the P7-C http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12060

sku.22567 has the advantage of one less mode, larger reflector, shorter overall length, while being negligibly heavier.

What is the difference between the c and d bins?
