Hello guys,

I am in desperate need of a new EDC light and I was considering either the Inova X5 or the Nuwai Q3. I hear they are both very tough and very bright. Which do you people think makes a better EDC light in a general perspective?

-brightness
-toughness
-size
-runtime

That's what I'm really interested in.

Thanx

I have not used an X5 but I can tell you that I sure do love my Qiii. I am using the Batterystation rechargeables in it and it's just amazingly bright for it's size. It's fixed focus has a nice hot spot with what seems to me a huge spill area. I have been keeping it in my pocket and find it to be non intrusive. Others report very good run times. I'm simply swapping out the recargeables about twice a week. The finish is going to take a beating over time but it seems to me that mechanically, the light is very nicely made. I don't think you will be disapointed with it, especially for the price.

-brightness - QIII by a long shot. Uber-bright. .
-toughness - X5T, although the QIII is tough, the X5T is tougher. Especially in HAIII.
-size - QIII is small, X5T is a nice shape to carry, I think. .
-runtime - X5T. It'll light on batteries that won't power the QIII.

So it's 50-50. I'm never far enough from my spares to worry about runtime, so my EDC is the QIII. The X5T is always in my bag, though. .

-brightness = Q3
-toughness =X5T
-size = Q3
-runtime =X5T

You be the judge.

Surefire E1E + KL4 using one R123.

Or is the options just between the Q-III and the X5T? If its just between them two, I think the Q-III is the best one.

Between the two, the QIII will be easier to carry. I would recommend taking a look at the Inova T1 also. It is what I have been EDCing for the last month. It works great for chasing mice. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanx for your answers guys /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes , I meant betwen the two listed. I don't think I could afford anything Surefire right now.

I think I'm leaning towards the QIII. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The QIII due to the smaller size blends with almost anything you wear: dress pants, jeans, etc..

PS: As soon as I find a Rechargable CR123 (the 4.2v type) I will be replacing my QIII by a VitalGear 1xcell with KL4 head /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, I often have an X5T on me but the Q3 is pretty sweet as well. I really like the form factor and rugged feel of the X5T though I would probably slightly prefer a clickie and more throw. The X5T does many things well... Throwing light any kind of serious distance is not one of them. My LED_ASAP modded ARC AAA kills the X5T in throw while the Q3 would no doubt beat my ARC.

IMHO They are both great lights and EDCing either of them would be a good choice.. For me the best EDC is the TnC Keylux N cell beacause it's increadibly small so I can keep it in my pocket no matter what attire I'm in (suit, slacks or jeans) and it's incredibly bright with good battery life.

I own both of them and like both of them.
But I only EDC the Q3. The X5T is more of a backup light if a long runtime is requested. Imagine that the Inova is lacking in throw. But it`s very tough and a rugged feeling.
The magic cpf slogan: buy them both! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/happy14.gif

BTW the Inova T1 is a recommendable light too.
