which emitters should I use?

The set-up:
I have a homebrew 4x lux III T-bin light through 25mm (IIRC) optics.

I would like to reduce the size as this is a honking huge light. I also have from an abandoned K-2 project 4- 20mm IMS reflectors, downboy 1.2A convertor, heatsink and modified M*g head for it all to go in. I would like to use what I can that I already have.

I have been reading alot the last few days trying to catch up on the new (to me) emitters and have a few questions:

1) would the reflectors work OK with the seoul or cree emitters given some modification?

2) Should I hook up 4 seouls in series as is at 1.2A? I could take one of the sensing resistors for 600ma as well. 14.4V 4.5Ah battery pack is robust enough for my night riding.

3) If I rip off a resistor for 600ma would Crees be a better option?

4) do the Seouls (or Crees for that matter) experience the same Vf drop as the Lux IIIs after use?

5) Break down and get a bflex to drive everything, since it's the best out there?

Thanks in advance, and this is the best (sub)Forum ever!

Min-t + Bflex = very lite.

K

I left it off the list on purpose. Too tempting, and way too nice. Much too nice for my big mitts to tinker with. Eventually my desire to mess with it would overpower common sense and I would have a very expensive paperweight.

nFlex-uib2 is the same hardware as bFlex but in a rectangular form with much easier to solder pads (since they are at each end of the board). If you have the room for nFlex, then it would be easier for larger mitts to deal with :)

cheers,
george.
