Which music playlist app / service ?

I've been wanting to put together a personalized music playlist; both for my smartphone and also to share with my elderly mother where she lives.
Any recommendations on Spotify vs Pandora vs ??

Am hoping for free service & minimum advertisements; yes it's the typical 'good/fast/cheap - pick any two' sort of conundrum lol.

Spotify is ad free with subscription and you can download the music to play offline. I never tried the paid version of Pandora. It's been awhile since I used the free version of Pandora, but it had ads.

I pay for Spotify and Google Music (by way of Youtube Premium). They both have their positives and negatives. If I had to pick one, it'd be Spotify. GM lets you upload your own stuff to the cloud though, which is nice. It isn't unlimited, but it's a hefty chunk.

I guess I have whatever service Amazon offers as well (through Prime membership), but literally never used it. I don't even lnow what the UI looks like.

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks to both of you with the suggestions. I finally got around to setting up the free Spotify service; have put 100+ songs into a playlist by now, and I am pretty satisfied with the experience. Best regards,
