which one should i use for my 1AA mmmag?

1) Madmax with LuxIII (Faren LP or NX05)

2) Madmax+ Q3 1W low dome (NX05)

and regular kroll switch won't work properly? how to make it work?

Go for the Madmax+/Lux III. It will be brighter, nicer tint and run the same amount of time.

An S bin Lux III will be pretty close to a Q bin 1W at about 350mA. In any case, you'll be better off going with the Lux III. If you get a T bin, it should be brighter.

Go for either a MadMax lite or MadMax+. If you're going to stick with the 1AA configuration, go for the MM lite.

I'd also forget about using an optic, especially in a mini m@g. Either mod the stock reflector or drop an IMS 17mm reflector into it.

The only thing that would keep the kroll from working right is if the head is screwed on too tight. Of course, the switch could be bad.

I had not got around doing it yet, but IIRC, to modify the stock reflector from MiniM@g 2AA, one will need to drill a larger hole for the Lux to fits thru(only large enough for the emitter(the glassy part), and the reflector should sit on the black plastic surrounding the emitter glass.

Then thin out the opening part of the reflector to make it fit...as shown in Kj's page here.

Also, more reference link here and here

Good luck!

quite some work

maybe i should just get one of the 17mm reflector out there /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

There probably would be little if any noticable difference between an S Bin Luxeon III and a Q Bin Luxeon I at 350mA.

Driving a Luxeon III at half it's rated current produces light, but you will have a color shift such that a W0 tint will turn into an X0 or X1. The Luxeon I is binned at 350mA, and if you drive it at spec, it will preserve its tint at that lower current - the Luxeon III will not.

If you got with a Luxeon III, use the MM+. If you use the MM+ on a Luxeon I you will be overdriving the LED. MM Lite on a Luxeon I will give you more runtime and less heat due to lower drive currents, but less brightness as well.

Good luck.

Endeavor,

Good catch on the color shift. I had forgotten to mention that. BTW, I think Lambda still has some nice QWOH's for sale on his web site.
