Which re-chargeable batteries are you using in your HDS light?

Good to hear that your older AW brand cell still works.
Sadly, no longer an option nowadays when it comes to newer cells.
They've been fantastic cells. I have a few 16340 as well as a couple 18560 that are still performing great. I really hate to hear they're no longer offered.

fwiw, AW batteries were ICR chemistry
they have been superseded by IMR as well as INR chemistry.

the Vapcel T8 is an INR battery

here is what the HDS FAQ says about battery chemistry:

What are rechargeable lithium-ion batteries?

"There are three different lithium-ion battery chemistries compatible with our flashlights - often designated as ICR, IMR and INR.

The oldest and most common lithium-ion battery chemistry is know as ICR - Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LiCoO2). This chemistry requires a protection circuit to be used safely due to the chemistry's inherent instability.

A more recent lithium-ion battery chemistry is the very safe chemistry known as IMR - Lithium Manganese Oxide (LiMn2O4). In fact, this chemistry is considered safe enough to use without a protection circuit and is thus more reliable when used in harsh conditions, such as gun mounted applications.

The newest lithium-ion battery chemistry is the very safe chemistry known as INR - Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNiMnCoO2). This chemistry combines the safety of the IMR chemistry with the capacity of the ICR chemistry. And no protection circuit is required, making this a very reliable battery. We believe this is the battery chemistry of choice going forward."

I hear what you're saying, but AWs were simply beyond anything that was available back in the day in terms of rechargeable quality and reliability. So of course they're gone now. Too good for this miserable world.

yes, the vapcell T8 are also INR, and they have more capacity (longer runtime), than the HDS offering...
Thanks. I'm ordering a couple from Illumn. It's my first order, and $7 for batteries probably doesn't justify the ~$6 shipping. Anything else I should get while I'm at it? Any of their Deals too good to pass up?

Help me spend more money - smh.
