Which set up is LESS over-driving the LA when running 2 x 18650 + SF LA?

P90 or
P91

and,

MN15 or
MN16 or
MN20

i think i read that the MN20 is running closest to spec with 2 x 18650 (the least overdriving of the bunch), what about the rest?

over-driven = shorten the life span of the LA, so i am trying to minimize that (or at least aware of it)

The P90 is less over-driven than the P91. So of your other options the LOLAs will be less over-driven than the HOLAs. The reasons are outlined somewhere on here; probably in mdocod's threads. The HOLAs drain the CR123a batteries down more and are therefore actually lower voltage lamps than the LOLAs, which do not create as much of a voltage sag. Just to throw some figures out (not completely accurate, just for comparison sake) let's say the P91 is a 6.2V lamp and the P90 is a 7.5V lamp, when you throw a fully charged L-ion to them, the P90 is really not over-driven that much but the P91 is. The life expectancy of the P90 should be close to the spec while the P91 may be reduced considerably. I'm running 2x18650 pushing a P91 right now and am still on the original bulb so I can't say if the life has been cut short or not but the theory is that it "should" last about half as long as normal.

thanks of the info

i remembered i tried P91 w/ 2x18650 for a short while (when i was playing around with different setup) and was impressed with the output

and i just read (from another thread) that mdocod "guess-timate" that the P91 to have maybe 10-15 hr life span when run with 2x li ion cells.

i have been running my light for about 5 hr a week (slight less than 1 hr every night) lately, i won't want to replace a P91 LA every 2 weeks :p

i am running a 3W Cree drop in w/ 2 x li ion cells. but as usual, always looking for more lumen ... lol :D

i might try P90 for my setup tonight and see :)

stock: If you wouldn't mind, it would be interesting to get some feedback from someone who actually uses a light so much, my 10-15 hour estimate is just that, an estimate, you should try and see if it makes it through a month (~20 hours). Maybe the life loss isn't as bad as I assume it is. Who knows, maybe it'll last 50 hours, lol.

my situation will last for maybe only 1 more week

so i still can't do last term test

and even last night, i was still using my cree drop in w/ 2 x 18650 :p
