I was going to go with the stock synthetic fore end but want a folding butt stock for both home protection and also ease of storage when transporting. Thanks for your help. Hope this thread is in the right place.

I've personally only used the Butler Creek folders, one on a Mini-14 and another I built a "proof of concept" prototype stock for an M14/M1A weapon. Both lock up solid. The narrow buttpad is probably not going to be very conducive to practicing, and your shoulder will take some punishment. Unless you absolutely value compactness over comfort I would stick with the factory wood stock.

Spec Ops stocks are not my type. What I am looking for are the folding ones with a pistol grip. I have the original wooden stock that I replaced with the mossy oak breakup synthetic stock and never used the wooden stock. I want to get rid of both of them and get one of the folding stocks I listed. The first 2 are from a police site. I'm thinking I might just go with the Butler Creek one.

The Butler Creeks are nice. My truck gun wears one, and it fits under the panel in my Jimmy when the rear seat is folded flat. Very discrete and still accessible. Post pictures when you get it.

If you plan on shooting with just a regular fore-end and a pistol-gripped stock folded, I suggest you fire it first before considering it for home security.

If you are going to pistol grip route, it's best to get the pistol grip fore-end as well.

Holding it sort of like a bow, you can aim it somewhat. Otherwise, it's a from the hip proposition which is NOT a good idea outside of recreational shooting at the range or you could put a laser on it via Rutger Hauer in Wanted: Dead or Alive.

To be honest, most don't use the PG type of stock. Places like Thunder ranch that train combat shotgun certainly don't. They just teach you to fire as soon as the stock hits the shoulder pocket. They train you to have fast target acquisition and superiority with your given weapon. Most, if not all, riot shotguns you see are shortened but do have a regular stock.

If I was going straight home security I would go that route. Mines gonna be full time dual purpose home defense/hunting. I travel by boat to get to and from my hunting places and in some areas of the river I need to be able to pick up my shotgun and aim it rather quickly due to some of the druggies. Thats the reason why I wanted the folding stock. I really appreciate everyones feedback.

Well I did some photo editing in paint to show what mine will basically look like before I add the light. Keep in mind that its shown with a regular barrel and a 7 shot extension and I will be using my 28" ribbed barrel with a 10shot extension and a different barrel to mag clip but this shows the butt stock and fore end I will be using. I have the fore end already. I went to a gun shop and traded my mint condition wood stock for the black synthetic stock. What do yall think about the looks of it so far? Might put a trijicon on it with night vision mode. Not sure exactly. I know it ain't the best looking cropped pic but what can I say, it was done in paint.
